multilanguage twitter... why not? Last reply on July 04, 2008 18:58.
hi
some of my friends use twitter in english because of they got some english followers. but some of native language followers (turkish) couldnt follow their twits. So why aren't there 3-4 "what are you doing now" textbox and why couldnt I write these textbox for every language I know. Twitter can automatically send my twits to my friends according to languages.
For example I can write to first box "what a boring day" and select English combobox after this textbox and write to second box "ne sıkıcı bir gün" and select Turkish combobox for this combobox's language set. So same message (but different languages) goes to my friends but their native language setting. So my english friends see "what a boring day" and my turkish friends see" ne sıkıcı bir gün" message. simple but I think effective for multilanguage needs. I asked some of my friend and they said" what a wonderful idea" so maybe you like it too. Thanks -

Is there a way to filter the public timeline by language? Last reply on June 27, 2008 13:17.
Most of the time the public timeline is filled with twitters that aren't in languages I can understand. I was wondering if there was a way I could filter them - even filtering by character would be a massive help.

Time to introduce Language/Languages Filtered Track Alerts Last reply on April 28, 2008 18:37.
Last night I got about 70 TRACK ALERTS, most of them, I can't READ, I mean those are in different languages, So I think its time to introduce LANGUAGE FILTERING FEATURE for TRACKs.
By filtering the only languages that I can ready will increase the usability of Twitter and will definitely reduce currently WASTING massive Twitter data traffic.
I Think it'd be better let the users select their Active Language or Languages though twitter can filter them by matching tracks with the language by users.
Also take a look about BLOCK UPDATES FOR CERTAIN USERS ON TRACKS : http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to... -

I'm getting replies not intended for me, because of the way replies are detected in the message text Last reply on March 17, 2008 17:21.
Okay, so, my username (fluffy) is a pretty commonly-used word. And apparently the way that Twitter checks for something as a reply is to see if there's an @ and then looks at the next word. So as a result, when people say something like "@^$*^%&*@&% fluffy clouds" or even "I am annoyed @ fluffy dogs" then I get it sent as a reply.
What's even more annoying is a lot of these things are coming from people who only send replies to followers, so from the web interface I just see a message to that effect (though for some reason on Twitterific I get the actual message).
So, basically, ever since this "send replies to people" thing was implemented, I've been getting a lot of miscellaneous crap. Could the reply stuff be changed so that the username has to *immediately* follow the @? (no whitespace or other punctuation or whatever).
