Recently active problems in Twitter tagged with spam

I'm tired of all the spammers and "SEO" people following tens of thousands of people, and either posting spam and loads of links, or fake pointless posts just to game the system.
Please investigate: MusaAykac, AdultSitesList, livelyforum, ringernation, janchesnik, wemaketopearner, dealsgalore, azgames

I think its time for "report spam" to be added to user pages. Twitter is great that you pick who you want to follow but you can't pick who starts following you. It's great that I can block users that I want to but these people that are sending massive follows to various people for the purpose of spamming should be stoppd. The easiest way to do this would be when I click on the URL in the email I got from twitter there should be a "report spam" link on that user's page (well, on all user's pages). This would allow twitter to create algorythms to automatically suspend accounts. For instance, if a new user immediately gets 20 spam reports in a single day, they're suspended pending review whereas 1 spam report in a week could just be accidental and shouldn't be a cause for concern.

I personally think this isn't just a feature request but its almost urgent so that we (as a twitter community) can stop or at least slow this problem down before it becomes too big.

Like many other people, I'm seeing an increase in new followers who are following hundreds or thousands of people in a short amount of time in an attempt to get people to follow them back. When I navigate to the new follower's page, it's pretty clear that the person is a "Spitter" (Spam + Twitter = Spitter) by just looking at their Followers / Following numbers - e.g. Following 5,082 but only 43 Followers. I am going through this exercise about five times a day and it's really starting to take the joy out of Twitter.

Please consider changing the New Follower e-mail notification so that the the Followers / Following metrics are included in the e-mail. Even better, can you add the Follow and Block buttons into the e-mail? This doesn't solve the spam problem but it would go a long ways towards minimizing the impact. Thanks!

Using the form at http://help.twitter.com/index.php?pg=... to report a spammer (following the link from the FAQ page), every time I submit it it just refreshes the page. If the form is actually submitting, there's no indication of it that I can tell.

(Also, that form isn't very well-suited to reporting spammers in the first place.)

Since a few days I get about one new follower every day - spam everytime - but I have to log in and actively block the account.

I wish I could set a preference that let's me confirm followers beforehand instead of afterwards or only allow followers of my followers to follow me.... something like that

Clickaudit spammers are repeatedly signing up and following people who don't protect their entries. I've had several of these in the past 48 hours (I've blocked each one in turn), and it's starting to get quite irritating.

This person seems to have gotten me off the public timeline and taken my whole list with her because suddenly there were several complaints about her within minutes of adding me.

Here are a list of spam accounts that have sent the same message to me 5 times today - all exactly the same and I pick it up because of my interest in mobile learning.

How do I get these people kicked off - they are really ruining the experience - when they do this my screen fills up with the same message - thus it is very effective spam!

OK, so I wrote a quick little PHP script that posts to the Twitter API (thx guyz, u rock!) every hour with a message from the Unix fortune program. Pretty slick I thought, because I (1) like reading them, and I was feeling nostalgic, and (2) I really want an RSS feed of them to use in my email signature (something I don't have yet). After I created this thing, I subscribed to the feed myself using my own twitter account (ten7) and like to see the little messages. However, I think there is just one other legitimate user following fortunetweet whose name is m4cks.

Anyway, here is my problem: in about the span of 1 minute, I got told that I had 9 new followers! "Sweet!!" I thought, hoping that the program was magically discovered and would set the twitter ablaze with its popularity. Not so. Turns out all the new followers are the names of current presidential candidates with numbers appended at the end, for e.g. ChrisDodd53, DennisKucinich4, etc, etc. Then, another blast of new followers, all starting with "slick_*". Curiously, none of the posts that any of these characters have are legible, or make any sense. In some cases, there are not even links to the pages that they are evangelicisizing.

So... could you please look into this? I think these guys are spammers. And if you could remove them, then great. I'll be sad that fewer people are following my own little robot, but I'd rather bave twitter be spitter free.

(Oh, and feel free to use the word "spitter"... I have a TM, R, (R), Pat. Pend. and all that other good stuff to earn me mucho royalties on it :)

my same small vedio file opens everytime i open windows media player, how could i stop, so same file does not open evey time i open windows media player.

Every time I try to block someone I get a page full of gibberish. Is the link broken or is it me? I keep getting 'followers' who seem to be more like spammers (for example: nonijuicebenefi) that I'd rather keep away. I go to their profile, click on 'block' and get to the page where it says 'block anyway' and 'nah, we're cool'. I click 'block anyway' and get what looks to my untrained eyes to be a page full of html code. Help?

Twitter accounts now for sell on ebay? I think a change in the terms of service or SOMETHING is crucial. Things are about to get really bad for Twitter and I really hope that ALL of us can pull together as a community and keep this under control.

I've been getting replies from people I don't follow and they don't follow me either.

I use Twitterific and found that the API call to replies.format does in fact include the reply - so I know it's not the app pulling it from the public timeline.

The replies also appear on my 'replies' page on twitter.com - but since we're not following each other, in some cases I can't see the original message they posted (though the text appears fine in the API call).

Does this also open the door to potential spam, for example - this guy: http://twitter.com/waydbot - is pulling names from the public timeline and replying to them. This could easily be used to push unwanted adverts/spam to users - and with apps like Twitterific, it makes for a very invasive form of spamming.

Is this a real bug, and is it something that's planned to be fix?

Please Stop The Twitter Bots! Every day I'm inundated with requests from people to befriend me, only to find out that they have over 3-4,000 people they are following already--obviously they are bots or spammers trying to get a following. The easy solution is to simply give me their details when you send the email to me--instead of just saying "Blah Blah wants to be your friend," give me that persons details right in the email such as how many people they follow, how many friends they have, their profile, etc. Please don't make me have to go all the way to the Twitter site just to find out this is a bot request.

When I logged in this morning, I discovered I was following MalEmery, who wants to make me a millionaire. But I'd never heard of him before! Have you been hacked by some spamming scammer? (I unfollowed him, but what gives?)

Despite leaving Twitter weeks ago, by deleting my account, I am still getting "so-and-so is now following you on Twitter" email spam.

Please make it stop, it's terribly annoying.
