I can't block a spammer. Says he's blocked, but he doesn't come off my followers list. I have tried both on my followers list and on my followers list.
Can someone from Twitter confirm whether or not this is an "official" channel for reporting spam to Twitter support? I only bring this up because it seems to be misleading people (I've never heard Crystal or anyone else from Twitter mention @spam as a way of reporting spam). For all we know this could have been set up by a spammer who wants spam reports to disappear into the ether.
Every time I tweet at the moment, a spammer from http://www.the6figureteam.com starts following me. Have I been "botted" in some way, or is there some way of banning them?
Some people disappear from my "followers" list when I block them, but others that have been blocked still show up. Probably 99% of my followers were spam accounts, so I started to block them... but there are about 20 out of the original 40 that won't disappear from the followers list, even if blocked. How can I get rid of them?
There are people on twitter following thousands of users and being followed by only a few. It seems that this guys just want to abuse the notification email sent to users when followed with the intention of driving traffic to their websites.
This could be discouraged if twitter simply includes their Bio and Stats on the notification email. With that information, I would know if it is worthy of my attention.
I have gotten at least 10 requests today for followers. But they are ALL spam! How can I get rid of these? The process to block them takes way too long.
I can block him for myself, but is there a preferred way to point these out on an official basis, or do you already investigate based on the block count?
Looking at my Twitter page this morning, I noticed that I've started following two people who are clearly spammers. I never visited their pages before and certainly didn't ask to start following them.
Is there a hack that allows people to force you to follow them or has someone figured out my password?
Why don't you limit following to, let's say, 100? Allowing too many followings only result in twitter spam that really is disturbing a lot and nobody can really follow more than 100 people IMHO
With all the service interruption lately I think you should be aware that numerous twitter accounts seem to be computer generated and set up strictly for the purpose of flooding the system with garbage. See @jordlewis for an example. I have been blocking one or two of these daily. They seem to follow a format which includes missing @ before twitter names and tweets in multiple pseudo-languages. I would suggest blocking anyone that is following some percentage more people than they have "followers". Keep it real!
btw, I'm fine with "fake" personalities, as long as they have actual personalities! See @evskeys for example.
Dear Twitter: Considering you don't have to follow somebody for them to get your twitter messages, you need to recognize that nobody can follow hundreds, much less thousands, of other users. These profiles are obviously spam, and you should ban them. That will save you massive bandwidth and resources and un-clutter the system.
At least put a limit on the number you can follow. Geez.
As many other I get notification email from twitteres that just want me to follow them and/or to check out their profile and publicize their site or blog, often a complete OT.
Wouldn't be better to have their "one line bio", link and the 3 most recent updates in the notification email?
This could help in deciding if it is spam or not...
Can you always write so that people understand what you're saying? Do your customers know what you mean? Wouldn't it be nice to make yourself clear all of the time?
