"Twitter has been making great progress in terms of uptime and
reliability. Fail Whale sightings are far less frequent these
days thanks to our efforts but we still have a long journey
ahead. Last month we saw 99.88% uptime and so far this month we
are at 99.96%."
I'll be frank, uptime is only going to get you so far. I've been checking the status blog since the original issues back in May. Its now september. The pop overs on Track and IM haven't changed since June or so. IM needs more capacity, track needs reworking. Frankly track was one of the best things out there. Great for companies to track their name, great to track events in my area, and of course track my name being said. IM made it easy to get those updates on my desktop instead of my phone. Yet it seems twitter has all but abandoned these two in favor of the almighty Up time. Has anything really happened with them or have they been sitting in the back closet like the favorite toy you no longer care for?
It's really sad to see international sms support go. Here's what I'd like to see: a simple grid of countries (possibly with carriers) with support status.
e.g.
South Africa - unsupported
* Cell C - unsupported
* MTN - unsupported
* Virgin Mobile - unsupported
* Vodacom - unsupported
UK - partially supported
* Orange - supported
* Vodacom - unsupported
US - fully supported
* Verizon - supported
* etc (I'm making up stuff for UK and US, I don't know their carriers)
For bonus points, each country/operator could have a twitter account, and we could subscribe to that account to be instantly notified when support is added!
I want to take my feed public, and rather than selectively edit 1500 posts I would rather just kill it all. I know at present this only goes back so far, but knowing a technique would be a good start.
My Twitter Don't work
When i sign in it works,but when i update nothing happens it just refreshes without posting anything I need someone to fix this asap I have sent request after request for help with no responce.
It's been several weeks since i was able to update!!!!!
I've done the verify number bit and all (even done help twice) and that all seems to have worked, but when I try and say what I'm doing it doesn't show up on my page. :(
EDIT: I did the 'delete & try again' or whatever. Now the other stuff that was working doesn't work.
Why do I see @replies show up as updates on the home page of my Twitter account? Here's the process that I'm doing, and I don't understand what the efect is:
- Start with my general update on what I'm doing:
"I'm at the concert, anybody here?"
Everybody that is following me gets an update with my update
- I then @reply to somebody that has sent me an update
"@myfriend That sounds great"
Only "myfriend" gets this reply
- When I go to my twitter account online, I see that my current update is the @reply and no longer what I set originally. Is this what ppl are going to see when they check my status?
I am having a problem with Twitter RSS, Facebook and LinkedIn. My RSS feed that used to work as simple RSS now requires a username/password to authenticate; my Facebook feed no longer works; and my LinkedIn status no longer updates because it can't find the username. I have my settings set to NOT protect my updates. I've seen issues like this before, but never the three of them together.
In the past 24 hours (its now Monday morning July 21) no new tweets from people I am following show up on the main Twitter page (where normally you see all your friends' tweets. If I manually go to an individual friend's twitter page, then I see their updated tweets...but whatever process Twitter uses to aggregates these into a single feed of all my friends is failed. ANyone else having this problem now. It looks like others have had it in the past -- how do you recover from it?
i posted a twitter update from my phone, however it didn't post to my online twitter. It did however, send a text update to one person that had subscribed through their cell... what am I doing wrong?
Does using the Facebook app for Twitter count towards my 70/hour limit? Twitterific gives me an error that I've tried to update too often even when I have set it to check every 10 minutes. Just this app alone shouldn't reach the 70 requests per hour limit so I'm wondering what else may cause this to happen.
Cursor moving to the update box every time the page loads is getting annoying. I use the back button often and have to scroll back down to where I left off every time. Need an option to turn that feature off.
When I specify a track word, does the Twitter system then apply this filter to the updates posted ONLY by the people I follow or does Twitter use the word being tracked to retrieve the updates posted by anyone who is a Twitter user?
I hope that it's the former. In other words, I hope that tracking allows you to be notified about updates posted by people you follow BUT ONLY when they post something with the track word.
If it it's the latter then it loses its value because you could get an update from someone you do not want to follow and have no interest in.
