Make it easier to see the spammers
On the "person X is following you" email:
1. put the number that the person is following/has following.
2. include a block button directly on the email
3. include the last 5 posts from that person

Inappropriate? We definately need a way to zap spam followers as quickly as possible !
I’m hoping this gets fixed
-
Inappropriate? How would you forward on the last 5 messages if the person had set their profile to private?
I think this needs thinking through a bit more, but the principle idea is definitely something Twitter needs -- i.e. less spam. -
Good point, but I guess if private then just leave out. The most important thing is the ratio of "following" to "followers"...in fact, that might be a useful metric...? -
The ratio metric would be cast-iron reliable, but it's typical a reasonable indicator I agree. -
Inappropriate?I like this idea - I essentially follow this procedure anyway when someone follows me so this would be very convenient.
I’m happy

Yeah - minimum change from what we do already - just a bit easier :-) -
Inappropriate?one has to be careful about simple solutions like that with the ratio - if someone is a beginner and is following a lot of people to explore twitterverse for later selection of the best, you should not punish his omnivore manners; best there are some individual restrictions in the settings (e.g. 3 grades of protectedness)

I don't think new users work like that, IMO. I certainly didn't. And besides, the followee still gets the chance to ok the follower - it just gives a good indication of a likely spam account -
Inappropriate?Yes, but blocking them doesn't flag them as spam. These accounts need to be purged so they don't suck up database and traffic flow - which seems to be their primary purpose. The result is legit users have to make do without legit twitter functions and end up leaving for greener pastures.
-
Surely that would be done by Twitter themselves? If they notice accounts that are consistently being blocked, they'd make moves to add them to their spam queue..? -
