"Remember Me" check box on login form doesn't work

I have to log back in to Twitter almost every time I use it despite always checking the "Remember Me" check box. I have this problem on Safari on OS X and Firefox on Windows XP--both of which are properly configured to accept cookies--so it doesn't appear to be browser- or OS-related.
