"Report Spam" links need to be placed on user pages
I think its time for "report spam" to be added to user pages. Twitter is great that you pick who you want to follow but you can't pick who starts following you. It's great that I can block users that I want to but these people that are sending massive follows to various people for the purpose of spamming should be stoppd. The easiest way to do this would be when I click on the URL in the email I got from twitter there should be a "report spam" link on that user's page (well, on all user's pages). This would allow twitter to create algorythms to automatically suspend accounts. For instance, if a new user immediately gets 20 spam reports in a single day, they're suspended pending review whereas 1 spam report in a week could just be accidental and shouldn't be a cause for concern.
I personally think this isn't just a feature request but its almost urgent so that we (as a twitter community) can stop or at least slow this problem down before it becomes too big.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.

Inappropriate?I believe Twitter is currently using the number of times an account is blocked to flag accounts that need to be reviewed.
Maybe it's just me, but I would personally be concerned about the automatic suspension of accounts because if it's automated, it can be gamed (e.g., someone with enough motivation can create 20 new accounts and use them to tag someone else as spam to suspend that person's account).
But like you, I have noticed an increase in the number of spam and spam-like accounts. Makes me doubly glad that Twitter notifications are all opt-in. -
How about adding a 'LowTrust' link/count that is viewable by users in addition to tracking number of blocks. -
Inappropriate?Your concern is really the same as is currently a concern if blocks are an automatic suspension (you could create 20 accounts and then block the same person on all of them).
The reason why I think we need something different to click on is, as I thought, many people don't realize that "blocking" is detrimental to the person your blocking (and I don't think it should be). There are times where you just may not want a certain person to get your updates and thats what blocking is for -- but that doesnt mean that that person is a spammer. -
Inappropriate?Oh yes, I agree that people can create multiple accounts to block a single account. Which is why I like that nothing is automatically suspended right now (as far as I can tell).
And I see your point about having a separate link. Thanks for elaborating! -
Inappropriate?I 100% agree with this suggestion. And I think that the Spam button should not only be on the Profile page, but it should also be in the "XXX is Following You on Twitter!" e-mail as well, along with Following / Follower metrics, their web site URL, and their last few tweets. This way you could mark them as Spam right away without having to waste time on their Profile page.

Inappropriate?I'd like to see this coupled with the follower-following ratio as a metric.
I've gotten so many invites from people with 3000+ following and like 90 followers. Clearly spam.

Easily resolved - only count blocks from people the account has followed, and combine it with the folllowing-to-followers ratio for extra verification. -
Inappropriate?Stick a "report spam" link right next to the "block" link on each user's page, as well as the "your followers" pages.
It'd also be great if such a spam reporting link (as well as the current block user link) displayed the confirmation inline using ajax or something, rather than requiring Another Page Load.

Inappropriate?Same guy added me 3x just today to try to sell me multi-level marketing (same message) on each of his profiles. We need to be able to flag the process, so that Twitter can monitor similer messages and block as they happen.
I’m annoyed.

Inappropriate?endeliiz - the issue for me is that most of the spam I get is sex adverts - highly inappropriate for children and extremely annoying for me.

- My response to that is that if you want somebody blocked with malice, you could easily take advantage of the current system in exactly the same way, if it is in fact automated. If it isn't, then why automate a future system? Just have somebody checking the reported users. If a user gets more than 20 reports, a twitter officer checks that account.
