Account name & password changed - by twitter.
Why was my account's name & password changed? Why did no one contact me or inform me that this was happening?
I have not been hacked. Twitter changed my account (ftom @dailymail_uk to @notdailymail_uk) and password with no warning or form of redress.
Why?

Inappropriate?Hello. Twitter's TOS has a clause that says they will reclaim usernames on behalf of people or companies that have legal claim or trademark of the name.
Is the name "Daily Mail UK" owned by someone and is it possible they've requested the username?
In any case, you can always log a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help to ask why -
Inappropriate? That may explain why it was changed - but it doesn't explain
1) Why did nobody contact me to see if I had a prior or better claim on the name?
2) Why did nobody contact me to tell me this was happening?
3) Why did nobody tell me what my new password was?
I’m vexed

Inappropriate?I'm afraid I don't have the answer to that (though I can see why you're upset). Your best bet is to contact support via http://twitter.com/help

Inappropriate?I can confirm, as the current 'owner' of http://twitter.com/notvirginmedia , that it is Twitter policy to hand over any contested account without first discussing the issue with the little guy.
Probably something to do with their business model. The fix? Suck it up, I guess. (I suspect this answers the question)
I’m rankled
