can't add device to a mobinil number.
I add the device and then text the code to Twitter international number, nothing happens
it was working and i had to add another device when abroad.

jadac1229 can send HELP, and get a response, but the twitter.com site does not acknowledge if it ever gets my txt confirmation. Sprint stated they were going thru, and I can txt GOOGL so short code is on. -

The sms are usually delayed (to several days) and sometimes not reaching at all. Some of my friends are really considering leaving the service all together and this idea is increasing.
Twitter is being used largely by human rights activists here in Egypt to spread the news and sometimes in urgent situations. By improving your service you really can do something for Egypt.

But recently, I had to let go of this number, so tried to change the registered mobile number to another one. I've sent the code, but there is no response. Wonder why this number cannot be registered, while the other one had no problem.

I've got unlimited texting, and have texted to other official 10 digit numbers, but have only tried the 40404 number for a short one. and it seems as though it's not getting through.
any suggestions would be muchly appreciated.

We are a Fire Company that wants to implement twitter for communications in Chile, but, as the first poster said, the people in Entel cel phones, cannot send the verification code. You can really help a lot the fire companies in Chile, we are all volunteers, so anything that helps get the job done, and cheap, is greatly appreciated. -

No response. I've sent "on" to the number and no response.

Inappropriate?I found out what the problem is: Entel, my Cel Co. blocked several ports for security reasons in March. One of them is where twitter works. Now, we have to wait until my Cel Co. arranges a way to let twitter sms through without jeopardizing security.

Inappropriate?Mdy: in the link you add here, it explains xactly what I did, and confirms that my CEL company here in Chile does not support the sms comunications twitter uses. Not even to the direct sms number for twitter nor the google direct in the test.

Inappropriate?areitze, if your phone company won't let you send sms to Twitter's international number (which currently is +44 762 4801423), then I think your options for updating Twitter from your phone require the use of a data plan (wap / gprs / evdo / hsdpa or whatever is the equivalent service provided by your phone company).
With a data plan, you can receive and post tweets from your phone:
a. through Twitter's mobile website at http://m.twitter.com
or via a third-party mobile site like Slandr at http://m.slandr.net
b. by sending emails through a service like Twittermail at http://twittermail.com
c. by using a third-party application that's compatible with your phone (such as Fring or in my case, TreoTwit since I use a Treo phone). -
Inappropriate?MDY: I use a sony ericcson W300i, a very simple phone that gets the job done. SMS, EDGE, full, i so have a data plan que post mainy by m.twitter.com. But can't receive any kind of tweet, only if I'm connected to the net via edge. Is their any hope for me?? Looking at Fring now. An online SMS service allowing the FROM field to be any cel number, allowed to get my cel activated, but the rest of the people in my Fire Co. (all volunteers) can't get it for all these above reasones.

mdy, I am unable to verify my cell. According to my Cell provider (ACS) they have told me their network doesn't support 5 digit numbers. So for now twitter will not be happening in my forseable future.

Hi John. Yes, unfortunately, there is a known list of mobile providers that don't support shortcodes. If your phone has a data plan that's reasonable, I suggest trying the Twitter mobile web version at http://m.twitter.com or even the third-party site http://m.slandr.net.
