Are we charged global SMS rates in Singapore?
Hi,
I am located in Singapore and we have the +65 area code.
Tried searching but couldn't find answers to the question:
Does my local telecom, in this case SingTel, charge me for text messages sent and received to the +447624801423 number?
Reason I asked is because I do not want to incur expensive foreign text charges.
Thanks.
Gerald

Inappropriate? It depends on your phone plan.
For example, I'm charged international rates when I send to the +44 number. But it's free for me to receive sms. In other countries, people pay for each message they send and each message they receive.
You're probably better off calling SingTel to get an official answer from them that's specific to your phone plan. -
Inappropriate?of course you get charged the standard global rates, the UK number is in UK. Unless Twitter sets a shortcode in SG, you're better off using the online version over GPRS/3G. Each SMS is at least SGD0.65.

Inappropriate?but I checked SingTel's website and according to there, its only SGD 0.15 per sms sent overseas....
