blackberry pearl shows gibberish when receiving verification codes and twitter updates
My verizon blackberry pearl shows gibberish when receiving SMS verification codes and twitter updates. I can't access/create my web account (started via phone) because my verification code looks like this (as does the reply from HELP sent to 40404): "...cd@w4]]Pa:{TNr2HF{%\gDvK9li:$rQ^ 4[NfKQJ 0Hg%..." etc...
I recently switched from Sprint to Verizon, and Palm Centro to Blackberry Pearl -- the Centro worked fine. Also, I tested the Pearl with Google's shortcode and it worked fine.
Any ideas?

1. Have you always had this problem, or was this a recent development?
This is a new problem, but it's been around since i got the blackberry (a few weeks ago)
2. Is the entire message unreadable or is it just some parts of it?
yes, the entire message is not legible...
3. Does it happen only when the tweet is an @reply?
no, it happens with replies as well as twits from friends
4. Does it happen only when the tweet is from a specific person or group of people?
i'm only following one person, so far, but it happens from both her and from twitter proper (ie the HELP reply) -

late last night i got a twit (tweet?) from a friend and it was not gibberish!!! yay!!!
nobody told me to do anything new, fix any settings, anything... just started working again. hopefully everything else will too!

Aach! I still cannot get twitter to send a valid verification code to my phone so that i can set a web profile. i've already sent an email to crystal directly at twitter, but it was after business hours, so....
anyhow, i'll keep posting updates with any information i get. if anyone else is having the same problem with verizon's blackberry pearls, click the i-have-this-problem-too button. maybe it'll get a little more attention...
