Bug Report: Extra long tweets break the interface.
I decided to make an extra long tweet to test my own tool and ended up with this:
http://www.kalleload.com/uploads/qbib...
The tweet in question is: http://twitter.com/rossmasters/status... - 140 chars.
(deleted it to save my eyes - becically 140 chars with no spaces).
You need to use some sort of word wrapping to fix this. PHP has a word_wrap function (and one I emulated: http://twitter.uvshock.co.uk/tag/make...) - I'm sure you can do this in Rails.
Keep up the good service :)

Inappropriate?Twitter seemed to be experimenting with fixing the word wrap, however, this would cause words to get cut off in the middle of them which was really annoying.
They took the word wrapping off again because that was a huge annoying to see words cut off half way through. -
Inappropriate?I see, and I agree that it would be annoying.
Could have a word wrap function that only splits the word if it's longer than a specified length however - say 40 characters. -
That's a good idea. Hopefully a Twitter employee will take a look at this. Additionally, it's probably a good idea to submit this to Twitter as a support ticket, just to make sure you get an official follow up. -
Inappropriate?its back again..just starting today around 11 pm word wrap broke and now it is messing with interface again.
I’m silly

Inappropriate?LISTEN TO ME>> I need to be able to communicate with OBAMA and RICK SANCHEZ on CNN!.. ITS IMPORTANT PEOPLE!!
I’m amused

Autumn: I'm unsure how the word wrap problem is hindering your communication with other Twitter users. -
Inappropriate?Ok I make a complaint and get crap in my e-mail in box. IT says satisfaction well I am not satified. This wordwrap 1 looks like crap and two cannot read it all and 3) I cannot click on the people I am following. CNN is promoting you and you are treating my complaint like it is not a problem.WELL IT IS!! FIX IT!! Not only is it ugly it is unprofessional! You are lucky CNN promotes you and maybe they shouldn't because you are acting like a upstart!!Dont send me a mail how you don't see why the wordwrap is causing me troubles. I wrote to ricksanchez of CNN and complaint and maybe CNN should not promote you ppl!!
I’m frustrated

Autumn: First of all, all of us in this thread are USERS of Twitter, and not EMPLOYEES of Twitter. The wordwrap bug is annoying, but it doesn't stop you from communicating with other twitter users. If it bugs you that much, why not try an external application like Twhirl? -
Inappropriate?Hello. @Eridanus just pointed out to me that the text wrapping problem appears to have been fixed.
I did a quick check and long tweets are correctly wrapped in Chrome and IE7 in Windows Vista. It's not wrapped in Firefox 2.0.0.17, but at least it doesn't extend beyond the display area anymore. -
Thanks for checking the various browsers, mdy: I'd just seen it on Google Chrome. Pity about Firefox 2.0.x.y: that's the other browser I use. Even the partial Firefox fix is certainly a great improvement, though.
