Can I close my twitter account?
I'd like to shut down my twitter account. Is it possible to do this?

go to your twitter account. Click on Settings, at the bottom of page on left you click on Delete my account -
Inappropriate? It seems they had to temporarily disable the delete feature again (it was back a couple of days ago, but apparently had bugs).
Under normal circumstances, you would have been able to delete your account by going to http://twitter.com/account/delete
As a workaround for now, you can stop receiving updates by:
1. going to http://twitter.com/account/notifications and unchecking the last three checkboxes so you don't get contacted by Twitter
2. going to http://twitter.com/devices and removing your phone (if you've added it)
3. going to http://twitter.com/account/settings and checking the "protect my updates" checkbox at the bottom of the screen so that only those that you allow to follow you can see your updates.
4. going to http://twitter.com/followers and removing all your followers.
I know that's nowhere near what an actual "delete account" should be, but it should limit the contact that you get from Twitter until the delete feature is back again. -
Inappropriate?I have a similar problem. I created an account and the password is now failing (although it was saved in firefox). I repeatedly asked to have the password reset and several hours after each request I received an email. I clicked the link - and got an error. Same error every time (stating there was no account found). Obviously this is an exercise in futility/stupidity as I used the same login/email that the link was mailed to by twitter. So...I wrote to support asking them to close my account. No response. Obviously twitter has some issues - I am doing the only thing I can: letting my friends and colleagues know about this...twitter sucks. Their "support" is non-existent. Their code is garbage and they make microsoft look competent. That is no mean feat. End of rant - good luck Kim!

If you wish to delete your account now, go to http://twitter.com/account/settings (login is required, though) and click the "delete my account" link at the bottom of the page.
