Can I follow but not be followed by someone?
I have my Updates protected, but when I follow someone it seems they can then automatically follow me without my explicit approval. I'm sure that sounds voyeuristic, but I have legitimate reasons for wanting to keep my updates private. Is this supposed to be the case?

Inappropriate?Go to the person's profile you want to block. Look at the "About" section in green (located on the right). At the very bottom is the option to block that person. It doesn't look like there is a way to block using SMS or IM. -
Inappropriate?Currently, any updates posted by a protected account are visible to people that they follow.
If you wish to follow someone but not give them access to the updates in your protected account, you have a couple of options:
1. Add the RSS feed of the person you want to follow to your RSS reader (such as Bloglines, Google Reader). This approach works if the person you want to follow has a public profile.
2. Create another account which is public, and follow other people using your public account. Your public account will (naturally) contain only updates that you're willing to leave public. Use your private account to follow only those people who should have access to your private updates.
Neither of these approaches is ideal, but both these work-arounds will achieve the desired result.
