Can I mute or suppress someone I'm following?
A few of my friends tweet constantly, and their tweets end up filling my timeline. I don't want to stop following them, but it would be nice to screen out their tweets temporarily so I can see what others are saying.

Inappropriate? No, unfortunately you can't. You could suggest this as an idea for the future though!

Inappropriate?I have the same problem. In fact, this friend of mine doesn't even show up in my followers/following. He just seems to be there. I might just end up blocking him.
I’m at a loss

Inappropriate?I second this idea. Here's a great blog post explaining why:

Inappropriate?i do not want to block the person but i do want to mute them or only have one post a day with an overview of the days posts for reference. i am so desperate for this to happen as it is having knock on effects on other things. Please twitter can you make this happen.

Inappropriate?Another friend who fills my tweet page even has a My Twitter Daily Roundup that reiterates all the tweets I've "missed." It shows up in my yahoo inbox.
@patti-ann I think this is what you want, though it doesn't do anything about the first problem of an overcrowded twitter page. -
Inappropriate?I'd really like to be able to "mute" followers as well, and I just got started nd have only 5. One tweets regularly, but I also seem to get @ messages from his account. Let's all let Twitter know we want this change...
