Can Twitter update my Myspace status bar?
If I add a gadget to my Myspace will Twitter update my myspace status just as if I were doing it on myspace without Twitter? I want to be able to post on Twitter and then my myspace friends will be able to see my update when they log in. I want it to show up where all my myspace status updates are. I guess you can do this on facebook or is the facebook app kind of like a gadget? I hope this isnt confusing. I want something it's just hard to explain. My Twitter dream is to be able to call Jott It! to update Twitter and then Twitter updates my Myspace and Facebook status so that I don't have to log in at all. I wonder if this is possible?

Myspace has added the beta feature of twitter updating your status.
Log in to your account
go to "My account"
there is a section there called "sync"
From there edit your sync services however you would like it to.
(IE: two way updating between myspace and twitter, or one way from twitter to myspace and vice versa)

Inappropriate?Currently there is no way to do with because of the lack of a myspace api.
May I suggest facebook?
Someone should start a petition to get myspace to add an api because that is something I would also like.

Inappropriate?well i actually do already have a facebook but i have a myspace as well that is for promotional reasons for this travel documentary series i'm doing... i definitely do think that we should have a way to update myspace status using twitter.
-
Inappropriate?i'm having so much fun with twitter from my phone which auto-updates my facebook, that it would be great to have it update myspace at the same time! :)
i found an app on myspace that will allow your myspace to update your twitter, but not the other way around... let me know if you find something...

I asked the guy who wrote the myspace app if it was going to go the other way and he's just waiting for myspace to open up their API.
He wants twitter to update his myspace status also... -
Inappropriate?awesome. let us know when he gets it going! :)
-
Inappropriate?Well, Myspace has had an API (OpenSocial) since January.
If you want to update all three from one place, you can use 8Hands to do it. -
Inappropriate?8Hands asks for your email and password to each site. Isn't that one of the #1 things they say you should not give out to other sites? I'm hesitant. Any suggestions?
-
This is true, BUT remember that all 8Hands is really just a Web 2.0 service. Its purpose is to bridge several services together. Just like giving your Google account information to Meetup.com so that your groups' calendars can be sync'd to your Google calendar; or giving your LiveJournal account info to Jott.com so that you can post to your LiveJournal from your cell phone, etc.
In order for one service to update another, it needs to authenticate that you're giving permission -- vis-à-vis your username and password. -
I don't know what Nuri is talking about, Meetup.com provides private URL based iCal feeds that Google Calendar supports without having to exchange login data between the sites. -

Yes, yes, you could also use HelloTxt.com, but that requires using a different website. -
You can't feed your Twitter info into Ping.fm, though - the same conversation is going on over at the Ping.fm support site, and there's no way to do this yet. -
-
Inappropriate?I shad this same question, signed up for Ping.fm and it is working well.
-
That requires using a different site, which is not an ideal solution. Facebook has an app to pull your tweets in automatically; why can't Twitter do something similar for MySpace? (I don't have a MySpace, I'm just interested in this issue.) -
Inappropriate?I too, would like twitter to keep my myspace status up-to-date. I never use myspace, but I keep a profile because I have friends on there who don't use facebook (or twitter).
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Uh, twittersync does this and has since April. There's several results on apps.myspace.com for twitter, did nobody look there?
-
I did try that, but it looks like it only sends updates FROM myspace TO twitter. I don't care to use myspace, and want Twitter to update myspace for me. -
I've contacted the developer to see if the ability to go twitter to myspace is possible. -
Thomas, twittersync only syncs one way (MySpace -> Twitter) not the other way around. What everyone is looking for is a way to update their MySpace status automatically with their latest Twitter status.
I've been using Ping.fm for this for a few weeks and it seems pretty stable. Had a few issues initially, but now it seems to be working fine. The only drawback is you have to update Ping.fm instead of Twitter for messages you want posted to your Myspace account AND Twitter. Still a better solution than twittersync. -
Shawn: I stated I was asking the developer if he could implement the functionality that isn't there. You don't need to write a paragraph reinforcing what has been made clear. As well, ping.fm has been mentioned (in this thread and in other myspace twitter threads) many times and people say they just don't want to use it. -
Now let's just calm down everybody... Calm... calm... whew. -
but like i wanna be able to txt my update thru my phone, and it change myspace too, is that possible? -
Inappropriate? If other sites can do it (i.e. ping.fm) why can't twitter do it yet? is facebook pulling the status from twitter or is twitter pushing it to facebook?
I’m confident a solution is near
-
It's being pushed to facebook. If you update twitter when facebook is down, your facebook status will not get updated. -
Inappropriate?Use Shozu to update your Facebook and Twitter from your phone. Go to www.shozu.com
-
Dude, read the thread title. ***Myspace*** status bar!!! FAIL! Spam much? -
Inappropriate?so has anything happened in the last 2 months since the last post.
Can I update MySpace via Twitter? -
Inappropriate?Up until recently, I used ping.fm to update facebook, myspace, and twitter - it worked great.
Then something happened - I don't know, so don't ask - and ping.fm no longer updates my myspace status. The folks at ping.fm say they're working on it and should have it fixed soon.
John -
This sucks on MySpace's end, not Twitters. Unless you want Twitter to have an app that stores your MySpace login, logs in, and POSTs the correct data, which is pretty insecure (and won't happen). -
Inappropriate? But it works great on Facebook!
-
Inappropriate?it's a stupid solution, but it works for me: I have the twitter app installed in Facebook. I have the Twitter sync app installed in Myspace. So, I update my status in Myspace, which update my Twitter status, which Facebook update it's status from Twitter. Myspace-->Twitter-->Facebook...
So I only have to update my status on my Myspace page, and then does the rest tot Twitter and Facebook. That way I'm not using any 3rd party site.
I’m satisfied, but not
-
You're missing the point here. The point is that some of us DESPISE myspace, and only keep it around to humor some friends who only use myspace. -
i hate myspace too, i have any account on it just view my friends profiles. But i usually update my statuses on my ipod touch, so using Myspace isn't a headache. -
This is like despising walmart but you still go there every week and give them money. The only way to hurt myspace is not to view the ads. -
Inappropriate?I just started using Ping.Fm b/c twhirl now supports it. Ping.fm can update all those site at once and a lot more.
-
Inappropriate? On my iPhone I downloaded the application Yahoo OneConnect. It updates all three (Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter) and I can see everybody else's updates from everywhere else. I'm gonna check out Ping.fm for when I'm on my laptop!

Inappropriate?I HAVE A SOLUTION!
Everyone should just start using Flock.
The three sites don't update each other but it will take you about 3 seconds to paste your status into each one. No crappy applications to mess with, no need to join other sites, no problem!
Plus Flock is wonderful in other ways too.
It doesn't solve the problem of texting to one service and updating all, but hey, you're all on the internet 24/7 anyway!
www.flock.com - enjoy!
p.s. I am in now way affiliated with Flock!
I’m ctrl+c
-
Inappropriate? That doesn't really fix the problem. It's just a workaround.
-
Inappropriate?Use Ping.fm!

Inappropriate?we don't want another site... we want to tweet from our phone and have it show up on all three status bars... not everyone has iphones or blackberry's and what nots. We just need a better app on myspace where it is the same as the facebook and twitter.
Someone please grow a brain and understand that we don't want to have to log into another site... that's what we are trying to avoid!!!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I have 8hands and when I log into 8hands, it causes facebook to kick me out all the time. Th only way I can stay on facebook is to close 8hands, its a bummer.
I’m bummed out
-
Inappropriate?still another site/app MUNCE. We are trying to avoid loggin in to so many things... It is a bummer that u get kicked out of facebook because of ur app/site...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I tried that 8hands thing, but it didn't work right, and none of the admins ever replied to the issue posts.
I ended up signing up for ping.fm and hellotxt, as they support a few different sites, and just adding the bots to my messenger. Not a solution, but works for the time being... -
Inappropriate?I found this app on myspace.
http://www.myspace.com/twittersync
I just installed it so we'll see how it works. Good luck!
-
Inappropriate?you can, ive seen it/ i just dont know how to.
-
Inappropriate? Here is the solution, it works!
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1816421... -
That's just a widget to put somewhere on the profile. It doesn't change the actual myspace status. -
Inappropriate?Myspace still hasn't come to its senses, but there's a simple way to update multiple services from your phone:
1. Login to Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace and activate the mobile features for each on your account (if you have not already). Each will provide you with a number and/or e-mail address that can be used to update your status and/or upload photos from your mobile phone.
2. Get your phone and save the mobile number (and e-mail address, if you can) for each service in your Contacts. I have mine as www Myspace, www Twitter, and www Facebook.
3. Create a new text message and add each service into the recipients. Or, if you already have Twitter/Facebook synced, just send to Twitter and Myspace.
(AND enhancements... (a) Some phones may also let you categorize these contacts together [ie: create a new "Social Web" category] and text to every contact in the category. (b) Your phone may also let you save that empty, multiple-addressed text as a draft and lock the draft, which can function as a template for later use. (c) Also, if you can/do save the mobile e-mail addresses in the contacts as well then you can add www TwitPic and www Flickr etc. and also send a photo to all of your services from your phone.)
It's not as good as updating 1 place and propagating out to all your services, but it is a straightforward solution that works on the fly from your phone and doesn't require you to share your login information with a third party service.
I haven't tried this, but you might be able to accomplish the same thing from your e-mail. In principle it should work.
Many third party services for this are probably terrific and trustworthy, but it's difficult to know which they are when you first start researching. I can certainly understand the hesitation.

Holy freaking crap! If it works, it was worth logging into myspace. Now I'll never have to log in again! :-) -
Haha you are welcome. enjoy ;) -
i cant find the sync section, where is it? D: -
It MAY not be available to everyone since it is still in beta. Try this link (it goes to the sync page once you're logged in) http://bit.ly/36DWmV -
Im from The Netherlands, so i think its for US users only. I tried to change my Country settings from The Netherlands to USA, but they ask for a US zipcode which i obviously dont have :') -
That was my first thought. You could use 10001 zip code to see if that is your problem -
i just googled some zipcodes, i now live in Brooklyn ;) Anyway, it works fine now! Thanks for your help and fast replies! -
You're welcome! Hopefully they'll allow it internationally soon
