Cannot change aliased email address to non-aliased email address
I have an aliased Gmail address and when I attempt to change my email address to a non-aliased address, Twitter displays an error: "Email has already been taken". Clearly, that cannot be correct since I have the non-aliased address.
What am I supposed to do to make the change?

Inappropriate?Hi there. Just in case there's another Twitter account that is using the non-aliased version of your email address, I suggest trying this:
1. Log out of your Twitter account
2. Go to http://twitter.com/account/resend_pas... and submit your non-aliased email address in that form
If there *is* another account that's using your non-aliased email address, you should receive an email from Twitter. If there is no such account, Twitter will say that it couldn't find you.
3. If you receive the password reset email, click the reset link. It will take you to the password reset form where you can give the account a new password.
4. After you've set a new password for the account, you can click "Home" and you'll be able to see the username of the other account... and you can go to settings to change the email address so that you can use it with your real account. -
The non-aliased email was never received, despite Twitter saying that it sent the email. This appears to be a bug. -
Inappropriate?Okay....after TWO days, Twitter's automated email finally arrived for an account I had overlooked. Unfortunately, every time I attempt to change the password using the method described above, I receive an error from Twitter:
"Sorry, we couldn't verify that this user requested a password reset."
In other words, this is a major bug.
I’m upset
