Cannot open twitter home page.
While I am at home connected through Telefonica O2 ADSL in Czech Republic, I cannot open Twitter page - connection time out and also COnnection Interrupted. Ping to twitter.com works. No computer at home cannot access twitter site. This problem lasts more than 3 days. If I switch to use anonymous proxy, it suddenly works. Also I can connect from mobile phone and also from work (other provider). Please help

Inappropriate?I have the same problem. Been unable to open twitter at all for about 3 weeks now. I think it could be ISP related though.. so a problem on this side, not Twitters. Might need to give o2 a call.
-
Inappropriate?Me - and a friend from around the corner, we both - cannot open Twitter. We're also stricken with O2 as a provider... I registered with Twitter through another friend's computer and his t-mobile-mobile-network a week ago and now enter the Twitter-web-"shite" via an anonymous proxy provider. I don't like Twitter anyway. Haven't posted a thing. Does not do anything for me. Makes me feel like a mentally challenged data exhibitionist. I'm also anti-facebook. Might probably just leave Twitter again. But I'll hang on just a little while. Maybe someone can convince me, that tweetin' is a way of life... :-)
I’m flubbergasted at the stupidity, that O2 displays. Try to call them and ask for English service and you'll know, what I mean...
-
Inappropriate?lol
Well, I use it for my business/website, so its quite valuable to me in that regard.. therefore, it is important for me to access it.
What method did you use to access it then, with the anonymous proxy provider? -
Inappropriate?Try http://www.hideu.info. I just don't know, how they work - if they are really trustworthy...
Please tell me: How do you use Twitter for your website and business? How much does it feel like dropping your pants in public? :-)
Is there a way to continue this conversation privately?
I’m Twitter-critical...
-
Inappropriate?Dropping your pants in public?? What are you talking about?
-
Inappropriate?I exaggerated, a thing, that is related to humor.
In plainspeak I mean: How vulnerable are you willing to be by exposing yourself on a platform like Twitter or Facebook? Many people fail to think about the consequences. If all the private info floating around the web were ever used for evil purposes...
But even more realistic is, what I read in an article in the latest "time" magazine. What happens, if you split up with your partner and your relationship is all over the web?
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/art...
My above question from the end of my last entry remains to be answered, by the way. And I get this uneasy feeling, that this feed is another example, why I do not like social networks that much. Why should everybody read about this?
Anyway, I hope you can enter Twitter.com now. And that you are satisfied for the time being.
Have a good day!
B.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?I'm not sure which question you mean? I use it for my website, to let people know when there are news posts etc, and to throw in some latest news etc. I run a sports website.
I still cant access it, and the 'support' from twitter has been useless.
What steps do you take to access it via anonymous proxy?
thanks -
Inappropriate?I have a better workaround.
Try using this:
http://www.twittergadget.com/
I use this as a plugin in GMail .... I can open TwitterGadget in a popup window and it works fine ...
-
Inappropriate?BTW:
Everybody who has this problem, please CALL O2 support / help line and bother them....
It's more than one month now and I still cannot use Twitter...
They know that our IP addresses are in the blacklists of some servers, but they do nothing!!!!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? Thanks Milan, thats great - it works. First thing thats worked for me in over a month! I tried twitterfeed and that didnt work. Nothing else did, so this is great, thanks.
I've called O2 support and they acted as if they had no idea about it, saying that I was the first one to ever bring this up. It MUST be something to do with their servers though? Or something of the sort. They tried Twitter there though, and said it worked, and some other people i know who are with O2 also got it to work. So I have no idea what the problem is. It's really frustrating.
Have you had any luck in dealing with O2? -
Inappropriate?Hi Greiffel, great it works for you. TwitterGadget is the only twitter client so far I found it works (since your PC in this case does not connect directly to Twitter, but TwitterGadget behaves as a proxy in this case).
However, I miss some stuff that it on Twitter page, list of followers, convenient browsing through the profile of others etc.
So I would like O2 to get this fixed !!!
I called them several times - the trouble ticket # is 160 620 44.
They said that they know that some of the IP addresses are on public server blaclists (maybe spammers that were in the same subnet as we are - in the same IP addresses range).
So O2 told me their Security team is trying to solve this ... but there is no way to contact this Security team for us as a cusotmers. And they closed the trouble ticket!
So I bothered again few times, but without result.
You can check your IP address:
http://whatismyipaddress.com/
Then use "Black List Check" to see if your IP address is listed on some public server blacklists.
In my case, the IP address range I am assigned by O2, is listed in these blacklists:
dnsbl-2.uceprotect.net
dul.dnsbl.sorbs.net
and few others.
They clearly say:
1) only O2 can request them to remove the black list entries
2) the black list entry is not related to directly my IP (my PC), rather to an IP range (subnet), hundreds of O2 customers in Prague I guess...
Everybody, please find some spare time, and bother again O2 customer support...:-)
Milan
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Btw. I blogged about this issue at blog.boruvka.net
-
Inappropriate?Hi Milan,
Have you made any progress with speaking to O2?
I wanted to tell you about something interesting that happened to me last night.. I accidentally clicked on a websites twitter link, and Twitter opened for me! I checked a few days ago, and it didnt though.. so last night was the first time in months.
BUT!! This morning I tried again, and its not working. :(
Very strange, because last night it worked perfectly for a short while.
