When I try to set up an account, Twitter says that my email address is already taken!

Your email either belongs to another account (which you can test by trying to send yourself a password reset here: http://twitter.com/account/resend_pas...) or it belongs to a deleted account.
You can restore a deleted account here:

Or you can submit a request to support here:
http://help.twitter.com/requests/port...
to request the permanent deletion of your old account.

Inappropriate?I actually tried all those problems for my account and it still failed. I think if you did some account deletion before 12/1/8 the account deletion is more of a manual process on the twitter end? I'm hoping I can get my previous account deleted too so I can re-register and use twitter! I had to send an email to support_at_twitter_dot_com ...
