Characters with accents are changed or dropped when tweets are sent via SMS.

Texts to 21212 (as I'm in Canada) with accents (as I'm in Québec) either drop the accents or drop the characters. Example text body:
éîèïô
results in a tweet of:
iio

Web updates and updates with the experimental version of jibjib (a J2ME client) (but not twim, another J2ME client) can successfully tweet those characters. I tested with a Nokia E51 on Fido.

sad I’m pretty annoyed, actually.
