Choosing between public tweets and spamming followers
IDEA: Shouldn't it be possible to be able to have a public Twitter account BUT have the ability to approve all followers first? I'm tired of removing spammers every single day, but I would actually prefer to have my tweets public. I've been forced to 'protect' my tweets just so I can have some control over the 'people' (if they are truly people) who follow me. How does it make any sense that this is the only Twitter privacy setting?

Inappropriate?I agree! The idea is simple and genial. I'm having the same problem with twitter, check this out
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?I also heartily agree. I simply cannot see why followers are not required to be user approved in the same way as occurs via protected updates (the sad thing is that many twitterers also see followers with protected updates as 'spammy' in themselves which leaves many of us stuck between a rock and a hard place). The current situation as Twitter is getting over run by spammers is , for me ruining the twitter experience.
I’m concerned

Inappropriate?I mentioned something like this on my blog a couple of weeks ago. I think this is an excellent idea. It's the way Youtube and last.fm work, and it should be the way Twitter works as well.
