Daily Twitter Break (broke)

Wow. I think that you guys are having a tough week. Things have been down more than up, it seems. Good luck fixing it.

And, maybe be a little more forthcoming on the problem descriptions on the blog. That last post ("repopulate the caching service") doesn't tell users what to expect. It would be nice to know what's being done, and when will it be fixed.

suffice it to say, twitter has been really unreliable several times this week (and last week too)... i don't understand why this is so. jaiku doesn't seem to have this problem. yet i prefer twitter... please do a better job of informing users what we can expect.

Is there any official word from twitter employees on what is wrong, a simple "yes it is broken, we are fixing it" would be a start

This sporadic downtime is a little frustrating. This is exactly why web-based applications will never take over completely. There will always be the need for reliable local apps.

Adding to the noise. Come on, Twitter! You know how popular the service is now. You have decent funding. Yet serious downtime is almost a constant.

If we were paying for the service (which I'd gladly do, BTW) we'd be expecting refunds. Unfortunately for you guys, we're not. So all that happens is that downtime, accompanied by obscure blog posts, generates ill-will.

You need to explain a little better why the downtime occurs. And maybe you need your friends from Google to help out with the infrastructure.

My guess is, everyone at Twitter is hunting down and trying to fix the problem right now.

The problem with troubleshooting is, you never know how long it's going to take to find the problem until one second after you've found the problem.

Sure sure sure. Just when I get addicted, blammo! It all falls down. Hope they get it fixed soon.

this site says they have 13 employees online at the moment, surely they all can't be working on this problem, it only takes one of them to keep at eye on this site and post an update at regular intervals

can we work out some better timing for these twoutages? this time doesn't work for me.

I am only happy because it is not me that has to fix it, it was my turn a few days ago dealing with an an outage, there have been some tweets about twitter getting publicity in mainstream media, so this is only going to bring more people to the service.

i like twitter. a lot. but it's not reliable. and that makes me sad. i, too, will be over at brightkite for now...

It would be good to have a link here from the blog (since it is the only thing that is usually still online when twitter stops working)

i can confirm that i'm seeing updates on the site, via IM, and apps seem to be working... the site is slow right now, but seems to be back up.
