Don't count URL length in web UI before it gets shortened towards 140 character limit
Don't count long URL in 140 characters through web. For long URLs that will be shrunk anyway, I'm constantly having to go to tinyurl or other service to generate a short URL and copy and paste it. If there is a long URL that will be rewritten, the interface should know the max length of the shortened URL will be and only use that to count # of characters.

Inappropriate?Love this idea! I also have to utilize tinyurl.com frequently to make my update meet the 140 limit nicely, and that url still takes up valuable character space.
I’m somewhat annoyed

Inappropriate?YES YES YES. This is a great idea, and a VERY annoying problem with Twittter.
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate? That would be really hard to do in Javascript, but it's probably still possible. Personally, I think it shouldn't disable the submit button at all. It can try to submit using AJAX, then if it's too long, throw an error.
