Doppleganger account!
While trying to set up IM access I ended up creating a "username1" account. In the beginning, my updates would go to the correct account, but "follow" command would end up being executed by the (evil) twin! And friends are starting to follow him!
Now, I managed to disconnect it from the IM (no idea how I actually pulled that off), but now I can't claim the account using the /account/complete form. I even tried to remove the IM device from the original account, but it didn't help.
Any idea about how could I claim this rouge doppleganger and delete it?

Inappropriate?Hi, if you can give me the username1, I can remove it for you. You'll then have to delete your IM address from your preferred Twitter account and re-add it to generate a new verification code.
Otherwise, we'll think an IM message sent from your existing account is a "new" account being created from IM. You will know you're in new account sign up process if we ask for your user name-- when you give your existing username, we then assign "username1."

Inappropriate?Well thanks, that would be perfect! The username is "dreadnaut1", while the main is of course "dreadnaut", from which I have already deleted the IM address :-)

Inappropriate?same thing happened to me.
my account is "atman", but when I set it up with my IM I wound up having it go to an "atman1" account.
I managed to fix it myself, but there is now a dupe account for me on twitter that I"m never gonna use.
I’m mildly bothered.

Inappropriate?if you haven't messed up too much with the IM (as I did...) you may be able to remove it yourself following these instructions. Just put your IM in the field of the Account Completion form, instead of the mobile number.

Any changes on this side? Remember my account-1 is not associated with my IM anymore, so I cannot delete it myself, as stated in my initial message...

Inappropriate?I'm having some trouble with this. I deleted my account but it won't let me add a the im address that created the false account. It keeps telling me that the iM address is already in use.
