email notifcation for followers not working
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Hello. Have you always had this problem, or is this a recent development?
Also, at the risk of asking a silly question... is it correct to assume that your account is currently set to send you email notifications when someone follows you? You can see your current setting at http://twitter.com/account/notifications
I currently get email notifications of new followers; the most recent one came within the past 24 hours. But I don't know if I'm getting a complete set of emails since I haven't paid attention to my exact number of followers in a while. -
Inappropriate?I stopped getting them a couple of weeks ago i reckon. The box is ticked for email notification when people follow.
Perhaps they are suffering with scalability issues due to the success of the platform
-
Thanks for clarifying! I should start paying attention to how many of these emails I actually get. -
Inappropriate?I have this problem as well. I haven't received an email about a new follower in about a week or so.
I’m a sad panda.

Inappropriate?Just to make you feel better I'll send you a heads up. I just started Twitter so I don't have anybody beating my blog door down to shout hey. Make it a good one Mike.:) -blubutterfly
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I am not getting notification of followers even though I have the correct email address set-up, checked the appropriate box and have checked my spam filters. Can this be corrected please? Thank you so much

Hello. Do you by any chance have an sbcglobal email address?
I ask because other users with sbcglobal email addresses have reported not receiving Twitter emails (which gives me the impression that the ISP is blocking emails from Twitter for being suspected spam). -
No I use Bellsouth.net for my email addresses. -
Inappropriate?Hi Linda,
Do you receive any email notifications from Twitter? Visit your settings page and try turning on other notifications to see if any come through. If so, it might be a bug particular to follower email (though there is no open bug for that now.) If you don't receive any email from Twitter at all, it may be a block by your ISP, or a spam filter stopping it from getting to you.
Thanks!

No I have not received any notifications from Twitter. How do I get my ISP to NOT block the messages? Thanks for your help

Hi Linda. I did some surfing online and found this page (link here), but I don't know if it's outdated or if Twitter's emails meet their "Acceptable Use" policy.
Anyway, fwiw, the relevant excerpt reads:
For (sending mail to) Bellsouth customers:
By adhering to BellSouth’s E-mail Acceptable Use Policy, your e-mail will most likely be delivered successfully.
If your e-mail meets the guidelines found in our Acceptable Use Policy, but is still being filtered as spam, have the BellSouth customer change their BellSouth MailGuard options through BellSouth Web E-mail (http://webmail.bellsouth.net) to Off to permit all e-mail to be delivered to their Inbox.
They also have the option to Review the e-mail from a MailGuard folder. E-mail that should not be filtered as spam should be forwarded to thisisgood@bellsouth.net -
I just checked my MailGuard on Bellsouth.net. I reviewed over 700 messages and not one of them was from twitter (even though 5 new people have started following me in the last couple of days. So, apparently i'm not getting any notices from twitter, even in my spam filter box (MailGuard). Wonder what the problem is. -
Inappropriate?Looks like Twitter has started a new topic for the email delivery problem that involves SBCGlobal / ATT / Bellsouth email addresses.
Click here to see the relevant thread, where a Twitter Rep has provided an alternate email address for contacting Twitter Support for this type of problem.
Also, the Twitter Status blog has a blogpost regarding this. See http://status.twitter.com/post/540309...
