Facebook took the "is" out of their status updates!
Without telling anyone, Facebook took the "is" out of their status updates. Which not only breaks people's individual status updates if they're not paying attention, but also breaks any app feeding strings into the status update feature...including the official Twitter app. Now updates from the Twitter app will read, "Joe twittering: blah blah blah..."
Can you please update the Twitter app on Facebook so that it no longer prepends "twittering:" to status updates? Perhaps you could even implement a setting that allows you to customize your prepend. To maintain brand presence, you could offer some presets:
is twitttering:
(via twitter):
(twittering):
and then maybe a customizable option.

Hey mankind!
We know that the TwitterSync app is your creation. We are not claiming it and give you all the credit for this awesome app. It was the slip of my tongue or fingers in this case.
Thanks for such an awesome app! You rock!
I’m thankful

I think your best bet is to have both TwitterSync and Twitter installed. The Twitter App has your information saved on facebook. You should have had to enter your username and password when you first installed it. Same with TwitterSync. Username and password are saved.
I think this should help. Let me know if you still have problems even with both applications installed.

Hi,
We have a new twitter app that you can add to facebook that will get rid of the "is twittering"
http://apps.facebook.com/twittersync/
Twitter Sync is the name of the app. Install that and you should be free from the "is twittering"
i hope this helps!

Inappropriate?Oh, thanks - didn't realize twittersync was built by you guys as well. I'm actually feeding multiple twitter accounts into my status updates - I had both Twitter and TwitterSync installed on Facebook. I guess I'll kill off the old Twitter app for now...
-
Inappropriate?Twittersync's been erratic for me, even with the official/original Twitter app uninstalled. Sometimes it doesn't update at all, and sometimes it screws up the prepended text. Does the recommendation for Twittersync mean that the flagship app won't be updated?
(Plus, I've been wondering, how is it able to post to Twitter without my Twitter password?) -

Inappropriate? As the creator of the TwitterSync application, I'd like to know how much Twitter is going to pay me for creating it since they claim ownership of it.
I’m happy that Twitter is claiming ownership of *my* Facebook app -- as long as they are going to pay me for it, I'll hand it over

Inappropriate? If you do not have your twitter set as a private (aka: have the "Protect My Updates" checked in the settings page) then on your page there is a .rss feed for your status update.
By simply adding your user name, TwitterSync looks up your feed & updates your status accordingly.
Although, if your account has a protected/private feed then you will need to enter your password so TwitterSync can view the status updates.
Hope that answers your question!
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, I'm embarrassed to admit, but my "problem" was that I was expecting Twittersync to work in the same direction as the official app — i.e., to post my Facebook status to Twitter. Now that I realized that it does the exact opposite, it's working fine for me.
-
Inappropriate? It should also be noted that TwitterSync *does not ever* post to Twitter.
All it does it read your most recent TwitterStatus, apply some logic, and sets your FacebookStatus to whatever your TwitterStatus is. -
Inappropriate? Also, usually when you find that TwitterSync is slow, it is not the app but rather Facebook or Twitter.
Haha, don't blame the middle man too fast, Dustin keeps up with that application daily.
If there ever was/is an issue with TwitterSync you can likely find it on the application page where Dustin let's people know what is going on.
Hope all this information helps.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I missed this last time I was here, but just to make this clear - TwitterSync is NOT built by Twitter. Apparently they wish they had built it & sometimes take claim to it. However, the reason TwitterSync was built was to avoid the annoyance that the original Twitter app started ( e.g. "is Twittering" & just the clunkiness of the app). Thus, again, the TwitterSync application was built by someone else not affiliated with Twitter.
I’m amused that Twitter wants to take claim to TwitterSync.

Inappropriate?Saw this tweet from @ev today:
ev: Poll: Should we get rid of "is twittering" when we post statuses to Facebook? http://poll.fm/col5/
Also, have tagged this and similar topics with "is twittering" to make them easier to find. -
Inappropriate? From Ev as of 11 hours ago:
Ev: 70% of people said get rid of "is twittering" (http://tinyurl.com/557j6u). It's now gone. (For simplicity's sake, there's no option.) Thx!
