Feature Request: Multiple Identites w/one Twitter Account
It would be great if I could have two profiles (aka identities) on one Twitter account. One for me as a crazy person hanging out with my friends and another for the straight laced guy at work. Or one for my private life and another for my CEO life. etc.etc. Thanks! I really do love Twitter. More and more addicted each day.

Inappropriate?I'm working on a Twitter project at my university, and I'd like to be able to use one account in these same ways. I'm sure the students would like have the opportunity for on and off the record tweets, too.

Inappropriate?I'd like to be able to use one Twitter account at work, and one in my social life. AND I don't want to create a separate email account just to be able to do this.

Inappropriate?I belong to many social networks and would find the ability to communicate with them via Twitter helpful. Communicating with all these groups with just one identity and attached to one number = information for some and noise for others.
For example, my social interests, wine, cricket, rugby, don't relate to professional interests nor do they relate to my global family interests.
One mobile number and many identities would be very helpful.
I’m really enjoying Twitter. Thanks for it.

Inappropriate? This would be huge and would also solve the problem described in this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
I might suggest though that the word "identities" be swapped for "channels" since you would have only one actual identity (you!) but would be segmenting off your communication to separate groups. (This may make it easier for the Twitter team to wrap their head around without having to think about how to manage 1 person vs several identities).
We would need the ability to be able to mark some or all of those channels as private while possibly keeping others public to solve the problem in the thread linked above.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?I like Jay Allen's idea!! By allowing us to select a channel before posting a tweet, we'll be able to control the level or privacy as we, the owner of the account, defined it. That will solve the frustration I and the other users have as listed in the other thread which made me quit Twitter eventually.
I’m ready to join tiwtter again if this resolve!

Inappropriate?Yes, great idea! That would allow, for example, channelling different tweets to different circles of friends/colleagues. However, as people might want to send the same tweet to more than one circle, perhaps it's possible for an individual user to create a number of different personas which he/she could then select when posting a tweet - at least online. It might need to allow a default persona if posting from a mobile phone, though.
Anyhow, it could partially solve the current bug (posted in other threads) about it being impossible for Twitter users with private accounts to follow other private accounts without being followed in return. Maybe we in Europe have a different concept of privacy ... ?
I’m looking forward to this becoming a reality
