Find a Twitter Username Via Commands
Most of the time I can only see their real name in my twitter clients. Is their a Twitter command that can tell me what their username is so that I can reply to them. Or can I reply with their real name. For example @John Doe, instead of @johndoe?
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hello. It's hard to give you a definite answer since the different third-party Twitter applications all behave differently, and Twitter doesn't control any of them...
On Twitter's website, you only see the username in your Recent stream. You'd have to go to someone's profile page to see their full name.
Also, for what it's worth, the @replies functionality works with the username, not the real name. -
Inappropriate? But is there a command to tell me what their user name is when I only know their real name?

Inappropriate? There's no command for getting the username from the real name, unfortunately.
But if a user's real name is in their Twitter profile, you can use the Twitter User Search feature by entering their real name as a search parameter and it should return their Twitter username.
For example, when I search on your real name, I find your Twitter account.
Once you know someone's username, you can get more info about them through the whois command.
Ex. when I send the command 'whois snverhallen' Twitter returns
"Sean Verhallen, since Mar 2008.
