Good news for people everywhere: Twitter has added user search again! Click the "Find People" link in the top navigation bar to import contacts from other networks, invite friends by email, and at long last, search for people by name.

Inappropriate? What's the rate limit on searches? I seem to have hit my limit but I've only searched for 4 or 5 people in the last hour.

Inappropriate?I just tried the gmail finder without saying yes to aggregate but it just added all my contacts available on twitter haphazardly! I'm absolutely disgusted and so I was forced to protect my updates. This is my worst experience ever with twitter. There is no solution cause the application just send notifications even to people I wouldn't add ever. Plus: I don't know if the application just send invitations to all my contacts (those who don't have an account with twitter). Damn!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? This isn't working for me. Search results yield no results for name or username. I have changed and saved information to re-index myself, but that hasn't worked. Don't know what else to do.

Hi w_wonka. Apparently, user search is not instantaneously updated. New accounts can take up to 24 hours before they appear in user search, and changes to existing accounts can also take that long.
At least your tweets are appearing in Twitter Search: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=fr...
If you still have this problem after 24 hours, you can log a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help to report the problem. -
Inappropriate?I don't like that you can't search location fields like you used to be able to. And also, exact matches should be the first hit (i.e. a search for tweetup should show @tweetup first, then other entries as it currently does)

Inappropriate?Until Twitter re-implements a full bio search (?), I created http://tweepsearch.com - while it doesn't index everybody on Twitter (I'm working on it! ;)), it's got a pretty significant number and you can also use it to search through your friends and/or followers bios.
For a couple examples:
Search for Seattle tweeps: http://tweepsearch.com/search?query=l...
Search for my friends in Seattle: http://tweepsearch.com/search/dacort?...
Enjoy! :)
I’m hopeful

I wanna say that dacort does some great stuff and I've been using and promoting tweepsearch since it launched. :) -
Inappropriate? When can we search bios & locations? For example, I'm trying to follow other academics (professors & graduate students) which I could do more easily if bios were searchable.
I’m wishful

Look at the post right above you which offers a site that has that exact functionality. I'm wishful for the day when people read the thread (since it's quite short) before replying to it.
