Also, what kind of blog is it? Is it one on your server or a blogger/wordpress type blog?

Go to the blog page where you saw the badge you'd like, display its Page source in your browser, and look for the HTML code which generates the badge.
You should be able to copy that part of the HTML code into your blog, whilst adapting it as necessary so that the badge will display your information on your blog. But beware of any copyright issues (e.g. ownership of the image) that may apply.
If you're not sure how to do that, just come back here with
• The name (and version) of your browser
• A link to the blog with the badge you're interested in
• Maybe a link to your blog page where you'd like the badge to appear
and someone should be able to help you further.
