Followers but not of mine....

This may be hard to follow, but please try to stay with me! OK. My page is private, as is my husbands. He has several friends, however, whom he follows and who follow him. Since I do not follow them, can they see what I post on my husbands site if I put the @ in front of it? If so, I guess I can DM him. Does anyone understand that??
