Help with non-existing follower request!
The system keeps on telling me I have a new follower request, but when I click it no name appears. How do I clear this? I'm not getting an error page. I'm guessing the account that requested to floow me no longer exists. No matter how many times I click on the link, the request never disappears.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem as Sandman71. I have 1 new follow request, but when I click it, no name appears. I'm not getting an error page either.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Same problem here. Username is jayallen

Inappropriate? My problem is actually kinda different but related. My acc is private. I get emails telling me that I have a new followers... but no notification to accept he's request is showed. WTF? Doesn't I supposed to accept his request before he can see my updates?
It used to work before, my acc still private... but does that mean that they are seeing my updates? If not... where can I accept their requests? CAUSE I DONT SEE NO NOTIFICATION ON MY PROFILE!!!
I’m getting mad!

Inappropriate?Me too. This has been going on for over 3 months now. I submitted a request, and was told it would be looked into, but it still has not been resolved. I still have the false notification that there is a new follower request.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?[This is just speculation on my part, so feel free to disregard...]
Twitter has been actively removing accounts that they've deemed to be spam.
I suspect that the program that deletes the spam accounts does not also reduce the number of 'follower requests' for private accounts. IMHO, that can explain why you have a number of follower requests, but then you don't see an actual list of accounts when you click on the link -- the accounts have already been deleted so there's nothing to see.

I suspect the same is true whether your account is private or not. Deleted spammer IDs still show up as people you may be following or are following you, despite the fact that their account has been axed. Would be nice for a "garbage run" to go through accounts and remove all deleted accounts from them. -
Inappropriate?I am having the same problem as well. If it is like you said MDY then Twitter needs to do their part and remove that false notification from our pages. It's quite annoying to see that in sidebar and click on it only to see there isn't anyone.

Inappropriate?hi11e1, yes, @crystal posted an update earlier today about Blocked users / spammers for public Twitter accounts. Please see this reply for details.

Inappropriate?I'm having this issue as well. I don't think i blocked anyone either~

Inappropriate?I also have a follower request that doesn't exist. It's getting on my nerves...
I’m quite bored of this now

Inappropriate? Finally fixed! I had gotten an email notification that someone wished to follow me (I have protected updates), and I clicked through to accept/deny. I then saw there was an option to accept all/deny all on this page, and I clicked on the option, and now I have no phantom requests lingering anymore. Whew!
I’m relieved.

Inappropriate?Fixed this by unprotecting my updates and then protecting them again.
I’m mildly pleased

That's fantastic. Fixed it for me! -
Inappropriate?I'm curious -- is this 'non-existing follower request' still a problem for anyone?
I noticed that this problem went away for me when Twitter updated the way private accounts work. -
Inappropriate?yeah, my problem's solved

Thanks! 8-) -
yoko (in a reply above) said they were able to get rid of the phantom follower notification by using the "Deny all" or "Accept all" feature. Do you suppose this will work for you too?
