horizontal display of messages is too long
my messages are covering the sidebar, thus I cannot access links in it. How do I shorten the horizontal disply of my messages?

Inappropriate?This weird display behavior usually happens when you receive or post a tweet that has a long string with no spaces (usually a URL). Twitter doesn't recognize the end of the box and doesn't force a line break in the text.
The problem usually disappears when the offending tweet moves into your Older pages.
