How can I get an inactive twitter username?
I need to contact a twitter user about their account, because the user is inactive (the only post is over a year old) and I would like to get that account name.
How can I get in touch with that person?
If they don't reply and stay inactive, i.e. are not using their account at all, could Twitter help me get that username?

Inappropriate?I just saw an older reply, stating that twitter usually released usernames which haven't been updated for 9 months. I tried to send twitter a message, requesting they release this particular username, but I cannot seem to contact twitter without having an account -- which I don't, hence my question above.

Inappropriate? There's a support request form on their site at http://twitter.com/help
I'm under the impression that you can post a support request without being a Twitter user (but I could be wrong).
Also, Twitter lets us change our usernames to any other username that's available. So if you decide to create an account now, you can always change it to another name later when the name you prefer has been freed up.
I’m in a good mood

Inappropriate? Thanks a lot for the reply. I'll sign up and send them a request.

Inappropriate?I would love to be able to get @drago is this account inactive, for the required 9 months to then give out?
-
Hi duregger. Looks like @drago is inactive. I did a 'whois' check (which you can also do by typing in 'whois drago' without the quotes into the "What are you doing?" box on your Twitter home page). It says the account was created Sep 2007. So it hasn't been in use for over a year.
I suggest you file a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help to request the inactive account. -
Inappropriate?Say it isn't so!!: "Due to high ticket volume, Twitter Support is no longer releasing inactive user names unless in cases of trademark or copyright violation. We are working on releasing all inactive user names in the future, however, we will no longer manually release them on an individual basis."
Really? :(
I’m frustrated

Please complain in the other thread, it's much more active. -
