How come the 1st Ammendment doesn't count on Twitter?
FoulBastard - A very funny and truly sweet person has been banned from Twitter and we would like him back. Was he banned for making a blog and promoting it on Twitter? Is it because said blog contained USER SUBMITTED material from Twitter Subscribers? Or is it simply the fact that Twitter is its own country and does not recognize FREE SPEECH?

Twitter does not censor content. Freezing the @foulbastard account was a mistake which we have since corrected.
Because of the opt-in nature of following another person on Twitter, we don't have a spam problem but we do get some folks who try to abuse the system for some reason or another. When enough people block an account on Twitter that usually indicates some sort of attempted abuse—this is how the Twitter community lets us know when something is not quite right.
In the case of @foulbastard, enough people had blocked the account that it raised some red flags and we froze the account. When we learned that this was not a case of abuse, we replaced service. We plan to refine our internal tools so we can more accurately maintain a quality service without stepping on any toes—this is a good learning experience for us.

Inappropriate?Ive been wondering that same question myself lately.
When I join a site, I actively participate.
However....the more fun I have...
the more jealous and ignorant people
start pinpointing me...

So, I click onto alot of stuff...
Oh well>>>>>>>>>>thats my perogative.
Isnt It?
Free Speech?

I’m Aggavated. Plain and Simple.

Inappropriate?Well, I'd hazard a guess that the reason the First Amendment doesn't apply to Twitter is because Twitter isn't Congress, and the 1st Amendments just stops congress from passing any laws that limit free speech.
Private companies/citizens can censor all the hell they like.

Inappropriate?Well... That's the thing. Nobody is really sure WHY he was banned... but it seemed to happen shortly after "The Breasts of Twitter" was launched. However, that site is NOT a Twitter site and it has a disclaimer about not being associated with Twitter. Furthermore, the site contains material submitted to him by people who follow him on Twitter ... Why aren't those people banned then?
I’m frustrated that I can't control the ban button

Inappropriate?Yeah but that's the problem with Social Networking... One person complains and the next thing you know indiscriminate bannings. I've seen this happen to friends on LinkedIn for not being "businesslike" enough... sez who?
Meh.... I guess free speech only works if it doesn't come with boobs
I’m wondering whatever happened to "YOU" (Time's person of the year for 06

...And I quote Dayngr:
If there is some sort of TOS violation wouldn’t one get a warming first or at least a notice that something, like the suspension of an account, has occurred? Since people have the ability to opt in to follow or opt out if they prefer not to why is there even a need for banning or suspending accounts.
Many twitter users use their cell phones and PDAs to stay connected. This costs us money and makes money for twitter. You’d think they’d let us decide who we want to read and who we choose not to. Censorship sucks.

Inappropriate? The only legitimate reason I can think of for the ban would be if the rightful owner of one (or perhaps two) the breasts protested their cleavage being displayed without their prior permission. I'm quite sure that would create an insta-ban on any site.
Given the source of these images, I doubt it went down like that... but that is the only legitimate thing I can think of... -
Inappropriate? So ummm... When exactly are the folks at Twitter going to answer this question?
I’m wondering why Twitter bothers using such a neat site if they don't answer

Inappropriate? Thanks for clearing this up... and thanks for taking into consideration that people will block other people... the world's a big place. So, let us be adults and block who we choose to... You don't have to do it for us. =)
I’m glad FoulBastard is back
