How do I get my GPS coordinates onto my twitter location?
I have not been able to find a definitive answer to this question. I DO use twitteriffic on occasions. So how to I set my location to "iPhone", followed by the GPS coordinates?
There are THREE OTHER QUESTIONS that have the exact same question and there is not ONE answer other than "you have to use twitterfon or twitteriffic". I HAVE THIS PROGRAM. HOW DO I TURN ON THE GPS SYSTEM?

Inappropriate?I wish I knew the answer too... but since this forum is more for the core Twitter service, you're probably more likely to get the correct answer if you check the support forum of Twitterific, which you'll find at this link

Inappropriate? The Twitterrific application has a feature to update your Twitter location using the iPhone hardware. Earlier versions of Twitterrific inserted the precise co-ordinates into the location field, but later builds swapped that for a geonames lookup of the location name — it's decipherable to humans, whereas the raw co-ordinates are not. As such, you can't get the old version that did co-ordinates any more.
I'm sure other clients offer similar features, but I'd urge you to think carefully before using them. Twitter's location field is not privacy protected. It's completely public. Even if you have your tweets set as ‘protected’, the location field remains visible to everyone who visits your page. Posting your exact location is a pretty big disclosure, and you should think very carefully about whether you want that information public for anyone to know.
Unfortunately Twitter doesn't have real location support in the service (although there are multiple threads here on GSFN requesting it: http://gsfn.us/t/nxv).

Inappropriate?Thanks for the info Ben.
I was mainly just curious because I saw it on Mike Arrington's page

Inappropriate? You could always use Google Maps (or similar) to get your coordinates and then enter them manually. It wouldn't be auto-updating, but it's better than nothing. However, I agree with Ben. Disclosing your exact location is quite a risk.

Inappropriate?I've found the answer. Twitterfon for the iPhone supports A-GPS coordinate updating. Just press the Locate button when you are typing a tweet.
@Ben @Niklas - The reason I want the coordinates is that it is very useful during large events. The ability to post my coordinates is WAY better than telling someone that I'm by the sno-cone truck. Generally, I stick with Twitteriffic's built in city-wide location updates
I’m glad I found it....

Inappropriate?I use BrightKite. It allows you to lock and unlock the GPS location-finding tool. For security purposes, I never disclose my location when I'm at home. But when I'm out and about, I may choose to check in with BrightKite. It automatically updates the location in Twitter (using text instead of coordinates, which is much easier to read) and allows me to post optional notes and photos. The app is currently free.

Inappropriate? In twitterrific, start a new tweet. At the top of the screen, there is a compass icon. Select that, and you will have the option to update your location. Make sure you have this capability enabled in your settings.
