How do I unfollow someone who doesn't follow me back?
If a user is friends-only, and you have requested to follow them, there is no obvious way to undo that request.

Inappropriate? If you view their profile and click on the icon/button that says "Following", under their profile icon, you should reveal a window that lets you "Remove" the person. Does that work?

good this answers the question bro -
Inappropriate?Nope.
This person was previously a public user, then switched to private. Their profile just says "my updates are protected" and now I can't unfollow them.
I'm viewing their profile and there is no icon/button that says "Following" under their profile icon, whereas I see that on my other friends' profiles.
I found out how to unfollow this user -- do a search on the user name, and there is a "remove" button on the search results page. But I should be able to unfollow that person from THEIR OWN profile page!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Kids use www.tweetlater.com ... it has the option of unfollowing everyperson that unfollows you or who doesnt't follow your back.. Cheers !!!

Inappropriate?I'm using tweetlater and still yet, I still have a huge deficit in the "Following. Followers" ratio which suggest that tweetlater does not covers this issue.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Tweetlater is now Socialoomph. My understanding is that it does not let you unfollow those not following you, unless they were once following you and then quit following you, AFTER you set up Socialoomph to manage that behavior.
Try http://dossy.org/twitter/karma/. It lets you sign in to a twitter account (password passed directly to twitter without going to the Karma site), then bulk unfollow those not following you, or select individuals to unfollow.
A second option is http://friendorfollow.com, which will allow you to see a list of all those not following you. -
