how long untill a username is free again?
i'd like to use a nickname, but someone has already taken it. however, the owner have never twitted an update or he updated a very long time ago. is there some kind of "timeout" and the username will be free again?

Hi guys,
We generally have a 9 month rule; if a profile has been inactive for more than 9 months, we release the user name. If it's been active, or has no updates, we attempt to contact the person to see if they're willing to give it up.

Is there a way to trigger this 9 month rule (i'm after a username that has been inactive for 10 months)? -
Inappropriate? And how do we delete an account? Account deletion has been "very temporarily disabled" for a very temporarily long time.
I’m grrr

Inappropriate?Hi there
I've been waiting for a deleted account name to become available for months now. I know it is deleted because if I try and log in using that name, I get the deleted message.
Is Twitter actively making deleted accounts available again after a set period of time? The deleted message suggests that this period is 6 months, but I've been trying to sign up using this deleted account name for longer than 6 months now.
Would you be able to check this account name for me? I'd be happy to email the account name to a Twitter rep.
I’m getting frustrated after all this waiting

Hi Mark. You can send in a request to support AT twitter DOT com, or log a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help. Your request will be assigned a ticket number, which you'll see in the auto-generated confirmation email that Twitter's support system will send to you. -
Inappropriate?I logged a support ticket two days ago but it still hasn't been updated. How long does it usually take to get a response?
I’m frustrated

We had a mail backlog affecting all in coming mail for the last 72 hours, sorry about that. If you can give me your 5 digit request number from your confirmation email (do not include the letters) I can look it up for you. -
@crystal the number is six digits: 323349 -
hey mark, I replied to your request to let you know what the next steps are; since the account was deleted by its owner, the deleted user name is attached to the old account for 6 months after the deletion date. -
Inappropriate?Hi There
I've tried contacting Twitter about his but the response has not been great. The account I am looking for has not been active for 9 months and I really would like to have it but no joy from Twitter.
I’m frustrated

Hi David. Could you kindly clarify -- did you mean that Twitter turned down your request? Or did you mean you haven't heard back from them...? -
Inappropriate?I haven't heard back, would love if you check it out, its the user name Edenbee
-
Hi, David. I'm sure a Twitter employee will look into this soon (it seems like Crystal is following this thread). It might speed things up a bit if you could post the ticket number (don't include the letters) here. :) -
Hi David, we can release the user name, but I need to know if you want this user name to replace an existing user name, or if you want to use it with a new account. If you can update your support request with that info and/or send me an @reply from your twitter account, I'll fix it. For example, send: @crystal can you look at req#123456? -
Inappropriate?I'm looking to check the status on my ticket (#336667) submitted a few days ago. Can you help?
I’m anxious

Inappropriate?I am having the same issue, and have waited over a week for a response to my updated support ticket. The ticket number is 333777. Please help. Thanks.

Inappropriate?Hi
I've been waiting for a response for a while -- id = 354975
This is actually my second attempt at asking the question. The first time I was told the name would be released in December 2008 but that just didn't happen.
