I am "Locked out!"
I can't login to twitter and get this message :
We've temporarily locked your account after too many failed attempts to sign in. Please chillax for a few, then try again.
And twitterrific can't login too.
Can I do something or I have just to wait?

Inappropriate?I believe you'll need to wait.

reset your password and you will be allowed back in following the link they send you in an email. however if you log back out and try to get back in you're still locked out. this is the issue I am experienceing at the moment but at least I can access my account this way. -

Oh, that's great to know! Thanks for sharing that, tinnion -
Inappropriate?second night in a row i'm locked out. "after too many failed attempts to sign in".. i think I tried one time and it was the correct info
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Thanks to all,
now all works fine.
But I don't understand why I was blocked...
I’m undecided, it's odd
-
Inappropriate?I think the lock out happens when there have been too many failed attempts to log into the account (i.e., wrong password and username combination)... this happens to me with my email. It usually lets you try again after some time. That may explain why some people are able to get in again later.
On a somewhat (indirectly) related note, if you don't receive password reset emails, please check the info in this related thread. -
I do not know what to do now? -
Inappropriate?you can click Forgot password and reset your password, when you do that you'll be able to login again. I have the same problem.... 4 times!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Its really annoying!!
Its when some idiot knows that your account gets locked so they keep trying to get in, and your account is locked, its silly really as it keeps getting your account locked!!
I’m Pissed.
-
Inappropriate?I think Twitter should block the IP instead of the account. That should solve the problem right...?

Yes, it's an interesting idea, better than locking the account to all. -
Inappropriate? If you find yourself getting locked out routinely and you recently changed your password, is it possible that you've got a third-party app that still has your old password and is, on a timed interval, trying to log into your account with the wrong credentials?
If yes, that might be contributing to your locked out state. -
*sigh* possible hazard of testing 100 new 3rd party clients. wish there were a way to track down the offending login source other than trial and error. debate about auto-lockout on schneir's site http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives... which ends on cheap, depressing note of, "if you get totally screwed over, just abandon the account." what kind of resolution is that? answer; the wrong kind. -
Inappropriate?I've had no problems what-so-ever since I signed up..until this morning. I turned my computer on, clicked the TweetDeck icon on my desktop and there was a little message at the bottom right corner: "Not Authorized"
I go to "log in" through Super Twitter and it gives me the message listed at the top of this message board.
Don't understand how I could be locked out before I even attempted to log in in the first place. -
Inappropriate?I'm having the same problems -- both accessing my account through the Twitter site and with TweetDeck. I've changed my password multiple times -- that gets me in Twitter (not TweetDeck) but then same problem next day. And, boy, do I miss being able to use TweetDeck!

Inappropriate? For the moment my web access works fine, but not Twitterrific (on iPhone) I get a "Twitter Download Failure ... not accepted by Twitter..."
I’m twitterrified
-
Inappropriate? If somebody is causing you to be locked out you should change your username when you have access again. This worked for me...
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I keep on getting locked out as well; happens about once every day. I'll open up Twitterrific or Twinkle on my iPhone and it will suddenly say I can't update; they aren't all on at once and I access one maybe about 2 hours after the last.
Why is this happening?! -
Inappropriate? This issue has happened multiple times for me (daily)
. I am NOT going to reset my password every time it happens. I can live without Twitter if this is going to be a regular occurrence.
Last Friday, I was locked out of my Twitter account for attempting too many failed logins. Everything was right, but I still couldn't gain access. It wasn't until yesterday, Tuesday, that I was able to input my info and use Twitter from twitter.com and a desktop app I used called TweetDeck.
I was locked out again this morning and still cannot login. What is going on?
The attached screenshot is what I saw after only 1 login attempt at Twitter.com this morning.
I've tried logging in via Twitter.com from my MacBook Pro, from my UMPC, and my Windows XP machine. I've also tried via my iPhone on the mobile Twitter page and using a third-party app called "Tweetie". No go.
I’m disappointed.

Inappropriate?Another day of being locked out after being able to login and stay active for a few hours. I think it's important to let Twitter know how often this is happening. DAILY!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue—I'm being locked out DAILY, if not HOURLY. If I can't find out what is trying to login to my account unsuccessfully through Twitter's site, how am I supposed to stop the lock out?
This is driving me INSANE.
I’m going nuts here
-
Inappropriate? Finally I have solved this problem by changing my screen name, and I have hided my updates.
(I don't like this solution but it doesn't break my contact list)
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?Same problem just happened to me. I changed my Twitter password on the web and got locked out after trying to use the password in Twitterrific. Now I can only log in on the web after resetting the password, but can't log in in any of the Twitter clients. This is extremely frustrating! :(
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? One other solution, is if you login to help.twitter.com, even if you're locked out, it authenticates you, and then you can go to twitter.com and use your twitter acct from the main website at least ;)
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Locked out because I changed my password and services such as TweetDeck kept trying to login with the old one - at least that's what I think.
Clearly "locking out" users is not a long term viable solution to the security problems of Twitter - which are clearly understandable.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? There seems to be much more to this problem than meets the eye. Check out the support thread that I started here http://help.twitter.com/requests/73896 I have been putting up with this for 5 days now, and I don't think it will be solved anytime soon. All I can think of are two possible causes, a website where I put my log in info is trying to continually access my Twitter acct. which is impossible to find out which, or someone is maliciously trying to access my acct to keep me logged out. Either way, this is a serious security flaw that needs to be addressed immediately!
I’m pissed.
-
Inappropriate?I've already posted here and in a new subject with the same idea, and I'm still continuously being locked out, and Greg is saying almost exactly what I said (thank you!!)—I have no idea what services are logging into Twitter and no way of checking them.
The funny part? If you go to the support page and log in that way, you can get in even if your account is locked.
Nice security. -
Inappropriate?I had the same problems. I solved it by uninstalling TweetDeck and then change my password. When that is finished you should be able to login on both TweetDeck and Twitter again.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Long thread but obviously a problem.
Hey TWITTER REPS, this is not a very elegant solution. I changed my password because I have seen subscribes that I did not execute myself.
I believe an app I tried, but than cancelled, didn't correctly remove my information - so I should be able to change the password to prevent such behavior. Isnt that reasonable?
Locking me out because some third party is trying to log in isn't sustainable. Perhaps you could block by IP address rather than block globally.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Try changing your username. You will retain all who are following you and who you are following. The only thing is you won't get replies (@username) from your old username, however you can try searching '@previoususername' and save that search and constantly check it to see who all replied to your previous username. If you change your password without changing your username, you may be locked out of your account due to numerous unsuccessful log-in attempts by whatever app is spamming your account.
-
Inappropriate?Just happened to me too, may change my username!
-
Inappropriate?alright yeah that worked, now I can actually login in Beak! Jeez guys, why does Twitter have this sort of problem?
I’m sad I can't keep my old username...
-
Inappropriate?how can you all change your pwd when you can't access the account?
I can't !!! I might be so very locked out and for not reason at all!!! ( Delete or Edit for 15 minutes )

Inappropriate?Go to http://twitterunlocker.com
My account was suspended they showed me how to get my name back in minutes.
