Inappropriate?When did it last work?
When did it stop working? Just in the last day or two, or mid August 2008?
Have you any idea what might have caused it to stop working (e.g. a technical fault with your phone)?
What error messages (or othr symptoms) do you get?
It would help to know your Twitter username, too.
I’m hoping I can help.

Inappropriate?i haven't used twitter for a while. a few months in fact.
my username is gemr.
it says that twitter doesn't currently supportsending SMSs to this number, but i'm sure it did before!
I’m confused.

You're right, it did before. But in August, Twitter decided to stop sending sms to most countries - only leaving US, Canada and India covered (and last week they decided to drop Canada too). All the UK users I know have switched to other services, because, really, for most of us, without sms, what's the point? -
Inappropriate? If you feel it's critical to receive Twitter updates via sms, there are third-party services that will be happy to send you tweets via sms for a fee.
See https://twitter.pbwiki.com/Internatio... for the list of known service providers. -
Inappropriate?Nowadays, Twitter sends SMS text messages only to phones in the USA (and India in some cases).
Twitter SMS to most of the world (including the UK) stopped on 13 Aug 2008 (and to Canada on 26 Nov 2008).
The http://twitter.com/devices message
Note: We currently don't support sending SMS to this number.
appears when your phone is correctly set up but you don't live in the USA (or India), and means you can still send SMS text messages to Twitter (using +447624801423 in your case) - but Twitter won't send any messages to your phone.
Mobile Phone: +44nnnnnnnnnn
There's more about this here (please click), including lots of (hopefully useful) links and various (paid and unpaid) alternatives to SMS text messages to and from Twitter.
Read some of the newer posts in that thread, too: since I live in Germany but come from the UK, I'm interested in newer developments, and I (and other users) will post there from time to time.
I know from my UK contacts that some O2 customers have a favourable mobile Internet tariff, so you might be interested in one or other of the mobile internet options for Twitter mentioned at the above link.
I’m hoping this helps reduce your confusion.
