Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem and my pic is only 160k

Inappropriate?I had this problem - then I went back to Settings -> Design, selected the checkbox for the photo I'd uploaded, and a minute later I had my background!

Inappropriate?I am having a wicked time uploading a photo for my background as well. Could someone take us through, step by step, the specific settings on the Twitter software that need to be made to effectively upload a custom background?

Inappropriate?Yes! A step-by-step that shows you what to do -- and not to do -- to customize this would be awesome!
I’m with you, hewells

Likewise, with perhaps hints on image dimensions! -
Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue. I've used different images (one is 4kb & one is 112 kb), tried logging in and out, setting it from a plain background back to an image... nada.
I’m frustrated
-
Yes, mine are also far below the max size and I'm definitely clicking save...nothing, just plain white background:-( I even tried the logging out and back in as describe above. Maybe it will be fixed when the upgrade is complete in July. -
Inappropriate?I have tried several different graphics all under 800kb. I have checked the appropriet boxes. I have saved after each one. I have logged out and back in. I have even shut my computer down and brought it back up several times and I have been trying to get a graphic in my background for two days now. Is there an answer to this problem somewhere? Can someone help me?

Inappropriate?Hello Bwarwick. I was finally able to get my picture on for my background by chooseing BOTH the background color and a check mark in the box for my picture. I know...it is a strange thing. Another lady sent me this same advice and sure enough, when I chose a background color AND had a check mark in the box indicating I wanted my picture for the background then my picture finally showed up.
Make sure that your picute does not exceed 800kb.
Good luck! I hope this helps. -
Inappropriate?Just out of curiosity, are you getting an error with the background being uploaded, or does it say the upload went fine but the background just didn't appear right away?
-
Inappropriate?When I uploaded my picture I never received an error. My picture was either not there (as was my experience in the beginning) or it was there.
I know Twitter has been experiencing problems today. Not sure if things got cleared up or not. I haven't been on since early this afternoon. -
Inappropriate?I have the exact same problem. When I upload an image (never bigger than 500x500 / 120Kb, always jpg or png), Twitter gives me a message that my settings were saved succesfully, but the background never changes.
When I check the CSS it turns out there has been some changes and the background property actually reflects the filename of the fuile I just uploaded. However, when I try to open the URL directly it turns out to be an XML document:
<error>
NoSuchKey
<message>The specified key does not exist.</message>
<key>
profile_background_images/9711485/brown-flowery.jpg
</key>

Inappropriate?Somehow, when I tried it for the Xth time (I really lost count), it suddenly just worked. No logging out/in... the background image just appeared. Still I did nothing different than before, so I guess this problem isn't resolved yet.
-
Inappropriate?This is sooo weird...
A month before (see my previous post above), I succeeded in uploading a picture. I haven't touched the design settings since.
Today, an image I had uploaded before appeared as my background. I went to settings uploaded the correct image again and it worked!
It worked... for about 5 minutes. My background image disappeared and I could only see the background colour I had set.
I've tried to upload the same image again, and again, and again... well I think you can guess the result: Nothing happened!

Inappropriate?you have to wait for the image to upload (takes a couple secs) and if the uploading is done then there it is! the background has changed? still have problems?
then follow this
Choose picture
click the old background picture box
click save changes
Wait
and if the uploading is done then there is the new background picture!
I’m blah! XP

Inappropriate?I had the same problem no matter what I did, then noticed my file name had spaces in it...I renamed it something short, sweet, and one-worded, and everything worked fine
I’m happy
