I'm locked out of my account!
So. I'm locked out of my account for trying to login too many times and getting my password wrong. But that's not the whole story. Here it is:
1. Someone told me that when they went to my blog, horsepigcow.com, it asks for their Twitter authentication, so I pulled up my blog and, sure enough, it asked me, too.
2. I typed in my Twitter password and the authentication box went away.
3. Then I panicked 'cause I thought, "OMG, there were all these accounts hacked last week and there was phishing, so I'd better go and change my password on Twitter!" And I went and changed my password on twitter (on my settings, which said it accepted the change)
4. I then went and removed the twitter widget from my blog sidebar, had a friend pull up my website (who was being asked for Twitter authentication earlier) and she told me the issue of authentication went away.
5. Then I go to Tweetdeck, which obviously didn't like that I changed my password and asks me for my password. I give it my new one. It says, "WRONG!" So I try my old password, "WRONG!" new password? "WRONG!" and so on.
6. Thinking it may be a Tweetdeck issue, I go back to the browser and try to login there. And it sends me to this message: "You are locked out of your account because you've tried to login too many times."
I'm thinking the following happened:
a. fixing the hacker/phisher problem may have triggered my lockout
b. something pushed through this morning may have temporarily 'broken' the api used in the twitter widget.
p.s. I'm now back into Twitter, but still wanted to record this as a potential bug.

Inappropriate?I'm now back into Twitter, but still wanted to record this as a potential bug.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Fwiw, the api login being required on sites that have the Twitter badge was apparently a bug that's unrelated to the phishing incident.

Inappropriate?how did you fix it in the end?
Im locked out at the moment, got an email asking to reset my password for security and because of this ap. that i clicked on to have more twitter followers. then it over took my site.
Now I keep getting a security warning popup, when i click either yes or no to proceed it still tells me my username/password is wrong..no matter if i use the old password or reset one..
HELP
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I have this problem too. I got an email to reset my account but since I don't remember the phone number I used to sign up, I can't get back in. Help?!
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate?ok i dont have a fix for this but i wanted you all to know. if you click a link to go to a twitter (or any other page you login to) from an IM or an email, DONT put in your username and password! go into the address bar at the top of your webpage and manually type in the webpage (ie: www.twitter.com , www.myspace.com etc) so you make sure youre on the REAL website, not a phishing website. never ever ever use those 'Get 100 followers a day' or 'Get 100 new friends a day' things becasue they are just people trying (and succeeding) to get you username and password to hijack your account.
I’m sad that people dont already know this
