I'm not a spammer, I've got a 1-to-1 ratio, Let me Follow People Back Please!!!
Twitter won't let me follow anyone for past several days - this seems to be an issue/glitch for more than just myself. Is the new anti-spam rule glitching?? I have a 1-to-1 ratio of followers/following and have for pretty much always. I've read about the new anti-spam measures, but can't believe that trying to follow 1 person in 5 days violates it. There are over 50 people who have added me that I can't add back. That's rude.

Inappropriate?Seriously. I'm getting incredibly frustrated here. I've put in a trouble ticket w/ Twitter - and put this here and not a single response from anyone in over 4 hrs?
Making me regret evangelizing Twitter for 2 1/2 hrs on Sunday at the BlogHer Unconference.
Way to undo all of the positive image you guys had built up over the past month.
I’m getting really annoyed now
-
Inappropriate?Yea, I dropped all of my contacts that were not following me, and then wanted to add the people who were. Now I can not get anyone to add me back! I am not a spammer! ARGGGHHH!
I’m upset
-
It seems a little bit widespread... I hope they address it soon. -
Inappropriate?Hi, GeekMommy. There's a kinda related discussion here, FYI. http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
It's not exactly the same thing, but I'd imagine the issues are related somehow.
I’m waiting to see
-
Im getting a pop-up saying there is an error and please try to reload the page! -
Thanks - but as you'll notice, under @Mdy's comment - I was involved in that thread *3 months ago* - they aren't really related. It's the cap that they've arbitrarily implemented. But thanks for trying to help! -
I just meant that maybe this problem is an extension of previous problems with their attempts to regulate spam. Didn't know you were aware of the discussion. -
Inappropriate? How do I get out from under the cap? I was triing to reduce my contacts to thoose that are following me... which would be a nice option compaired to me having to manually remove people and then put the ones I messed up with back in (which I want to do)

Inappropriate?Twitter does not have a handle on what would be a "spammer"
First off, "Spam" is repeat postings of the same thing. That's not at all like anything the bots are doing here.
That causes a real problem because a lot of people call anything they don't want, or think they may not want "Spam".. as is "I don't like that American Idol, why does Fox keep sending it to my TV?"
It's true that there is a pattern to what people abusing Twitter would do, but this response from them is just silly.
1) Most people with a high ratio aren't malicious
2) I follow thousands, and never had a problem with junk (spam). I have unfollowed, but it's so rare as to be hardly worth mentioning
3) Any company that cares about their customers would send a warning before disabling an account in anyway (except for emergency tech problems, which this isn't). Basically, they are telling us "you're bad and we don't want you"
From what I'm seen. Twitter management team are great people. I'm sure they have their hands full these days. Let's hope they address these valid concerns and let us help them get at the real abusers.. the bots and such.
In the mean time, it's frustrating. I was removed from the Twitter feed for weeks, then it was restored, now this. I like following a lot of cool people and don't require a rule to tell me how many I can "really follow"
I’m frustrated
-
I agree to a point Warren - but would direct you over to this post http://tinyurl.com/5hy6eh to see why some of the 'huge follow' accounts are not as harmless as they seem.
You tho? Seriously, I've never seen you do anything other than be a positive force in the Twitter community!! :) -
GeekMommy, thanks for pointing me to TLC's clear, beautifully-written article on SEO = Search Engine Optimization :-) -
Inappropriate?I just want to see what people who are watching me are saying, and so they can reply to me!
-
How can we get this resolved - I am not a spammer, I have a good ratio and engaged followers - I have begged for help to no avail - anyone have any ideas - I hate to quit twitter but this could put me over the edge -
Inappropriate?I guess the best way to talk to people isnt in tweater but in getsatisfaction.com! LOL!
I’m joking

this answers the question

When Twitter isn't working properly, there are often some really good conversations here on metaTwitter! -
Inappropriate? As of the "scheduled maintenance, I can now follow folks who have followed me recently. I do understand that it was an attempt to curb the misuse of the system - but it really freaked me out to suddenly find that a great deal of Tiwtter's functionality was cut off for me (and others.)
I don't really know what to do about it - I'm glad it's resolved now, but wonder when it may "break" again :(
I’m relieved
-
Inappropriate?Mine is still BROKE! Im going to build a tweeter competitor and call it Beeter
I’m making a joke
-
Inappropriate?how does this make me feel? this is FLickin' ridiculous. and those that are able to follow me (which should be everyone on the planet) know that I do not use words of this nature often, if at all!
twitter, you've sucked a big ole fat egg just now...
your former friend, and likewise to @geekmommy, a person who regularly promoted your service, but can no longer.
@jesatiu
here's more...if you're wanna or need'a read more, but really, it seems fairly simple: http://tinyurl.com/5kmcgv
I’m intirely motivated to destroy twitter, nearly.
