Hi Brian,
It's not you, it's us.
The bad news is...
This is a common problem with all Canadian phone providers and Twitter.
The good news is...
It's quite fixable! In addition to your Twitter username and associated email address, we need the following information to handcode your stuff, and then you'll be all set:
1. Country, city:
2. Mobile Number:
3. Mobile Operator/Carrier:
4. Date/Timestamp of last message sent to Twitter (if you don't have one, send HELP to 21212 and send the information from the latest message.)
Send a message to support@twitter.com and we'll fix you fast!
I’m happy to help

Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem in Canada on Rogers. Everyone gets my tweets - can't recieve any. Tried using it on a Bell phone with my acct - worked fine. Back on Rogers again and - no dice. Its not necessarily Rogers either, my best friend's works on Rogers. I think Twitter just hates me cause I have an iPhone. (:P)

Inappropriate?Do you support SMS for countries outside of North America? I sent an SMS using my cell on Chung Hwa Telecom. I received a response to the code asking for my name. Gave my name and then nothing. No messages post. It just doesn't work. I'm assuming that this is because I'm outside of the United States and Canada. Is this the case?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I followed Crystal's instructions and sent those details to support@twitter.com on March 13th, 2008. Still waiting for a reply/fix.
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate? Thanks Crystal! I wasn't upset with the timeframe... just a little confused that there was no acknowledgement e-mail. I'm really impressed with the customer service (especially for a free product)!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I'm waiting for the fix to come my way, after sending a message to support several days ago.
-
It takes a *long* time, but they do get it done eventually. -
Inappropriate?I've emailed support twice. No reply and no fix yet.
-
Inappropriate?Based on messages I have seen elsewhere, it sounds like it takes a week or two after you send mail to support (I am still waiting). If it gets fixed, I'll be sure to post the time interval (and maybe on my blog too).
-
Inappropriate? It's somewhat hard to be at all annoyed with this silly bug on a free service, but what's not clear out of the information above is if you should stop sending SMSes to twitter once you've emailed support... I'd like to keep updating via SMS during this issue, but if we have to send in the timestamp of the last sent message to twitter, doesn't that invalidate the support message as soon as you send your next SMS?
I don't want to harass anyone just to keep them updated on the last time I sent an SMS in... -
Inappropriate?Same problem. Only sending works. I know I can get SMS from web sites, for example from Facebook.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate? Thanks Crystal, things seem to be working for me now :)
I’m glad it's finally working :)
-
Inappropriate? Many thanks Crystal! It works great now (takes about 5 seconds to get a new message... so fast!) If others get the same problem, be patient, it's worth the wait!
-
Inappropriate?Thank you Crystal and the Twitter folk. I'm very happy and it's working for me in Atlantic Canada. Yay!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I'm having this problem as well. I'm with Telus, though. (I live in New Brunswick). I couldn't update or receive updates from twitter via sms, but then I called my phone companies support and they "refreshed" my account. I can now update via sms, but I still don't receive updates.
I emailed Twitter support, and updated my problem a few times, I still haven't received a response yet, though. -
Hi Sara. It usually takes 5 to 6 working days before you receive a reply from Twitter support (they appear to be dealing with a bit of a backlog, unfortunately). -
Inappropriate?Ok, I just moved to Rogers (from Telus, for the iPhone) and now I have this same problem. Seeing this thread, I have just sent an email to Twitter support with the information requested. How long is the turnaround time on requests like this?
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?I'll be looking into these tonight for you! Stay tuned.
