INEPT CUSTOMER SERVICE, TWITTER LIES, AND IDENTITY THEFT. PEOPLE, IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?????
Should Twitter keep your personal information after you terminate your account?
I don't think so. I think it's fundamentally wrong that Twitter, after I terminated my account, continues to post my user name and photo, and keeps my data available in their search. I think that fundamentally, any company that uses personal information from people that terminate their account is breaches trust. To complicate matters, Twitter indicates that we should "allow 24 hours for information to be deleted." Lies, lies, and damn lies.
What do you think? Are you happy to know that if you decide to terminate your account, Twitter will continue to post your user information? Do you think it's a best practice to ignore a service request to fix the problem?
And what about this Get Satisfaction site. After not getting satisfaction from other avenues, one would hope that posting the issue on Get Satisfaction would actually result in satisfaction. This site advertises that 19 employees are listening and participating. Only one has contacted me, and that hasn't done any good either.
So, not only is Twitter holding my personal information hostage, they lie to me, and falsely advertise that I can get satisfaction from one of the 19 employees here.
What do you think? Should Twitter hold your personal information hostage? Should Twitter change their policies? Should Twitter respond to service requests? Should getting satisfaction on the "Get Satisfaction" site be more than lip service?

Inappropriate?Regarding Get Satisfaction, no one ever *promises* you'll get a response from an employee. In fact, if you want a response from an employee, you're best to go to the http://twitter.com/help page and report your problem there.
Get Satisfaction is more aimed to user-powered support, with the occasional employee participation.
Alternatively, you can always @ either twitter or crystal on Twitter and get instant support there, but seeing as you've terminated your account, that is obviously not possible for you.
I’m not sure how I feel about Twitter and my information, so I didn't comment on that.
