International Woes - Desperatley Need an Answer within 48 Hours for Mission Team
Please help with International Tweet Options - have waited nearly 2 weeks with no reply. We have verified our phone with the US based 40404 number. It works fine. However, we are going outside the country to Bolivia. When we get into Bolivia - how can we send updates?
Do we text to 40404, or do we text to the international number? If we text to the international number, will it be dropped because our profile says 40404 is the number??
PLEASE ADVISE.

Inappropriate?I've had the exact same problem. As of today, our mission team finished our work in Malawi and is enroute home to the US. We were never able to Twitter using international text messages. Unfortunately didn't realize it until we were here. Occasionally had access to email and sent a few updates via the web, but we were disappointed the texting failed. Sadly we never received an answer to our technical query. A lost opportunity for us and for Twitter - we'd signed up a bunch of new followers!
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Leeanna,
Hi - I'm the person who originally posted this. I never got an official reply from Twitter, but we figured it out - you just signup the way you always have ... and your mission team should text their tweets to the standard 40404 number as always (assuming you are from the US) ...
Our problem was that although the person's phone worked overseas, the international division of AT&T had not enabled international texting ... so, you have to be a real nuisance when you call and tell them that you want ALL FEATURES of your phone to work overseas - including outgoing texting.
By default, most of the cellular carrier operators will say "sure, it will work overseas", but they don't really know that in some cases, something has to be activated additionally.
Since then, we've made 3 other trips this summer - to bolivia, romania, etc ... and all texts came through fine - see http://www.twitter.com/ssccmissions
I’m hopeful that I helped
