Is my SMS broken?

I have SMS for Twitter, yet I don't subscribe to or receive any tweets from my network. i also rarely update via mobile (maybe 2% of the time)

However, I've had the following message at the top of my web portal for about 2 weeks now, which is really perplexing!

"SMS Alert: You've received the maximum SMS updates for the week. You'll get 250 more in 2 days. Remember, you can always read all your updates via the web! Find out more."

I use the web portal almost exclusively, so why do I have this warning?
Thanks!

Could you kindly check your home page sidebar and see if 'phone' is selected as your preferred device?

Twitter seems to think you prefer to receive updates by phone so it's sending you updates via sms. If you'd rather not get anything via phone, you can select 'web only' on your home page sidebar at http://twitter.com/home

    Re: 250 sms per week
Non-US users can receive up to 250 sms messages from Twitter per week. The week ends at midnight Monday. That's why your message currently reads "you'll get 250 more in 2 days" -- it's another two days or so before a new allowance of 250 more messages is given.

Each time Twitter sends you a message, part of that allowance is consumed. Your home page sidebar should have a line that reads "Received SMS" to let you know how many Twitter has sent you.

    Re: not getting any sms
For some reason, Twitter doesn't realize that sms msgs are not reaching your phone properly, so it continues to try sending you messages via sms.

Under normal circumstances, Twitter should have gotten a notification of failed sms delivery and would have automatically turned off your sms without you having to do anything.

Anyway, if you still want the ability to post updates via sms (even if you don't use it often) and you don't wish to receive anything via sms, my suggestion is to go to http://twitter.com/devices and set your phone notifications to OFF or Direct Messages only. Then go to your home page sidebar and choose 'web only'.
