Is there a *non* short code number in Canada?
My mobile phone provider (7-11 SpeakOut Wireless in Canada) does support SMS messages, but I can't send SMS to short codes. Is there a non short code number for Canada?

Inappropriate?I don't think there is, sadly. Have you phoned up your wireless provider? Sometimes they don't enable shortcode SMSing by default - you need to ask them, or so I've heard.

Inappropriate? For all of you who live in Canada: Twitter has to complete your setup manually before SMS from 21212 (Twitter's short code for Canada) will work.
I’m hoping Twitter can fix this for you !

Inappropriate?Hey folks, thanks for the replies. 7-11/Speakout says they don't do short codes at all (http://speakout7eleven.ca/pages/faq/i...), so that's why I was hoping there was a "real" number behind the Canadian short code.
I’m pleased that people are answering, but no closer to solving things.

Inappropriate?adr:
In their FAQ at the link you provided, 7-11/Speakout seem rather vague:
Q: Can I send messages to text message short codes?
A: No. Check back for updates on this enhanced service.
Since that FAQ was written, the "enhanced service" may well have been "updated", and changed to your advantage. After all, 7-11/Speakout wouldn't want their customers to switch to another provider who offers better service - would they?
If you haven't yet done so, it may be worth your while to contact support@twitter.com with the information requested in the link I gave above. Twitter may be able to fix this for you - or at least state definitively that 7-11/Speakout are uncooperative, should that be the case.
I’m not ready to give up just yet.
