Location Enhancements for Twitter
One new thing I like is the ability of the iPhone Twitterrific app to update my Twitter Location information. I've noticed that when I'm logged in and viewing my /home, the Location information is not shown. Instead, I have to look at my profile.
It would be nice if I could see my location from my /home. I was expecting to see it just under the "Currently" section that shows my latest tweet.
Also, is it be possible for other apps to read my Twitter location by the API in addition to setting it? I'm thinking it would be nice after I updated by Twitterrific, that location could get pushed to places like Brightkite or Fire Eagle.
Finally, could the location field be timestamped and/or API stamped?
It would be nice to see something like this: Location: Twitter HQ (set 08:19 AM July 12, 2008 by Twitterrific). This would be identical to how Tweets show time and API client.
I don't want Twitter to try to do all the things Brightkite, Whrrl, Loopt, etc. do, but a few tweaks to the already existing Location field could be very useful for people.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?IMHO better still, Twitter could just automatically pull 'current location' from FireEagle and associate it with a tweet, exactly the same way that Pownce does (but cooler because it's Twitter). I suppose introducing any sort of per-tweet geolocation data could be a lot of work, introducing a whole new field of metadata. At least by autopulling it from a single simple API like Fireeagle it could simplify the matter.
As it is, I am using Brightkite to update both my Fireeagle and, automatically, my Twitter Location field.
I’m optimistic

Inappropriate?+1 For the FireEagle stuff. FireEagle integration for locations would be a great thing to see.
Please, Twitter :)
I’m hopeful that we'll get FireEagle

Inappropriate?+1 for both FireEagle and Brightkite. FireEagle doesn't allow users under 18 years of age, which, IMHO, is bull, so those under 18 would need to use Brightkite, if they're into that type of stuff.
I’m hopeful.

Inappropriate?Another +1 to FireEagle, would be very cool (and possibly easier to implement) to enable search.twitter.com for FireEagle. To be able to search for tweets near my FireEagle location, within n miles would be awesome.
