Merge two twitter accounts and keep all my followers
can you help me merge two ids and let me keep all my followers? I have two twitter accounts - only want one. The one I want to eliminate has more followers and I don't want to lose them.

Inappropriate? My problem isn't the same, but close.
I made a mistake with ID-ing my GTalk, and now have two accounts.
If possible, I'd like to join the two together.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Runrabbit, there doesn't appear to be any merge functionality, but perhaps you can leave a support request at http://twitter.com/help
In the meantime, perhaps you could try renaming the accounts so that the account with more followers gets the account name that you want to keep?
The existing friends, followers, favorites, and direct msgs of an account remain the same even if you change your username.
I’m in a good mood

Inappropriate?NHBoehm, I'm not sure I understand your problem correctly, but here goes...
Can you login to your second account? If yes, you can go to http://twitter.com/devices and remove your IM setting there, then login to your first account, and add your IM id to http://twitter.com/devices -
Inappropriate?I've got the same problem. if I could keep my tweets too, that'd be sooo great.

Hi. Kindly log a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help so you can provide account information to Twitter privately. -
Inappropriate?Merging two accounts is one of the most popular questions for Twitter on GetSatisfaction but there is no answer? I also checked on help.twitter.com but they use GetSatisfaction too so I'm redirected back here.
Who can tell us how to merge two accounts?
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Yep I'd like to do this too. I saw another thread where it was done manually by a rep.
I’m patiently waiting

Inappropriate? After contacting Twitter support directly, I was told that this is not possible. It's interesting that from treerao's post that it might have been done. I bet it has: but here's the thing: I'm a web developer who works with MySQL all the time, and it's a fair assumption that the information you provide to Twitter (user information, tweets, etc.) are stored in a database of some type (MySQL, Postgres, whatever) - so YES it should be a relatively easy task, but since Twitter isn't making any money from their users at the moment, NO they can't do it.
I’m amused

Inappropriate?I hate to get somebody "in trouble" (You can find another thread by search) since I'm sympathetic to the challenges of product dev/support . OTOH maybe they can resolve this issue forever since I'd think it'd come up a lot.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?@treerao if it's been done once, why not fix the problem once and for all? Since I last posted on this question a while ago, I've resolved my issue by following the direction of the Twitter staff and deleting one account, but then they wanted me to wait 30 days for that deleted username to expire.... and yeah, it's just a pain. Surely they can write a database merge command that just requires both of your usernames and passwords.
-
Inappropriate?as you say they can certainly solve the technical problem and this seems like something that should be addressed once and for all ... there are always questions of priorities and subtleties like, um, scalability (they'd have to touch db records of every follower of the killed ID), but this is *their* problem, and we can clamor for features or support if we want
-
Inappropriate?Exactly. It's not a question of whether or not they can do it. I know it's doable, and if they have the time to develop the web application, and run it, then this should certainly be in the priority list. Now, I leave - because I've said my peace. The discussion can continue on the site if need be. http://twitter.com/nicholaswyoung
